i'll be looking around at some other accommodation options during the week, personally i love the nugget and the grand poker series they run, as they suit my bankroll very well...
however, on strip is probably cheaper for us considering cab fares...

Yeah I think we have to take plan B.
I mean we can stay in golden nugget for a couple of nights.

Speaking to someone who has been to the wsop before, he said that if you are playing regularly in a casino, they will quite often provide free or cheap accomodation.
Not sure how true or indeed how much you need to be gambling but it might be worth considering booking a room for a couple of nights in the hope of getting it free or reduced after.
Of course there is always the possibility of no rooms being available after but unlikely I think.
Also heard people before say similar things.
Has anyone here been to Vegas before who can provide any insight?

I have heard such things as these but I'm guessing it's a decent amount.
But I think If I'm grinding the $1/$2 tables each night that's enough rake and time charge(if they do that) for a few nights. Esp if I'm playing 5hr+ sessions.

Very few casinos offer any sort of comps for poker play. If you are willing to grind out a few hundred on the felt and then toss it back to the casino in table games then you can certainly get a "free" room.
The Wynn used to give room comps for poker play however. I think when I calculated it you need to put in about 8 hours of play per day to get a free room. There are partial discounts, but once again its usually better to just find juicy games ...
there is a trick u can try on the craps tables with 2 people to get comps... basically u get one person to be $x on the win line, while the other person bets $x on the dont win line... between the two of you, you will stay exactly even, but as long as the house doesn't pick up on the fact that your both betting opposites of each other, you can clean up on comps ♦

More likely to be going to Gib in June this year with an aim for Vegas in 2011.

Hmmm, I need to look into it a bit further, but it is possible to get side events through these steps.
There are "Bracelet Chase" tournaments available, paying a $2k package for a $1k wsop side event.
The buyins are $200+16, $69+6 & $24+2 (1 in a hundred pays donkament for the 24+2 lol), but you can use the step 5, step 4 & step 3 respectively tickets to enter.
Me thinks a new challenge/blog is imminent ♦
