In case anyone missed this and wanna check it out: Venus passes between the sun and the earth twice every century and is then visible as a little dot against the sun. This wed 1am gmt (plus or minus an hour, not sure about the daylight time savings) it's in the middle of the transfer. Starts and ends around 3 hours before and after. Sunglasses is NOT sufficient for watching directly into the sun, i think quick glances are ok with them though, BUT, it's much more dangerous than I at least suspected before getting informed about it. Next time this occours is in 110 years+, so this is probably your last chance to see it live.
Heard that the observatory in Mauna Kea will send live on the internet. Google for more info.
Cheers
