I finally looked up the league system -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_football_league_system

In that article I found:

There are more than 140 individual leagues, containing more than 480 divisions.[1]
The exact number of clubs varies from year to year as clubs join and leave leagues, fold or merge altogether, but an estimated average of 15 clubs per division implies that more than 7,000 teams of nearly 5,300 clubs are members of a league in the English men's football league system.

Yikes!

I would love to see hockey in North America use a similar system, but that would require that NHL management would control the whole hockey system, which under the current management would be a tragic disaster.

Cheers,
VS

That would be professional and non league teams the pro leagues have 92 teams 20 in the premier league and 24 teams in each of the other three leagues.Although some of the lower leagues would be semi pro players and outside of that lots of non league amateur teams. And the football league and non league systems have a promotion and relegation system.Meaning the top 3 or 4 teams go up a league and and the bottom 3 or 4 drop down a league each year. The premier league has 3 teams promoted in to and 3 teams relegated of it each year and the other leagues have 4 teams relegated in and out each year.So non league teams can be promoted in to the leagues and vise versa league teams can be relegated to non league status.

The premier league has suspended all games until the 4th of April and a small number of premier league clubs are going to propose voiding the league this season. It's very unlikely that will happen but never say never with peoples health of course being the priority.

Nasty indeed, but in the Netherlands all soccer (football) matches are cancelled for the rest of the month.

When I go into the bank, and the teller asks, "Would you like anything else?"
I reply, "Do you have any bags of cash lying around that you give out to customers that ask for them?"

I just love some of the replies I get:
:diamond:  Oh, sorry -- that was yesterday.
:diamond:  We did, but the customer before you got them

Coming to you direct from the "Never hurts to ask" department,

The start decent on the Premier league this season. Do you guys/girls think they can win the title a 2nd time in a row?

It should be very close between Liverpool and City this year but if City don't sign a defender like Kalidou Koulibaly before the transfer window closes. Then i would make us favourites for the league this season maybe not strong favourites but we would certainly have the edge.

I expect Manchester City isn't so strong in defending so far, but it's intereesting if teams like Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal could fight for the title as well. Than it would be exciting to watch.
