888 Bankroll recovery – Page 5

For some reason, I thought that 888 had pulled out of Canada, so I had not played there in the longest time. Then I found I still had the client on my computer, opened it and discovered I had 20 bucks there. I was playing PLO8 10, and had a lovely full house, but some had a lovelier one, and suddenly I found I had 20¢ left. Fortunately, there is a freeroll every day at 17:00 UTC, and I've been min-cashing in these quite regularly -- and a couple of $1 cashes as well. I've also played the $0.40 Double-or-Nothing games, and I've got a positive ROI in those. I'm going to have a shot at building a LARGE bankroll starting with that 20¢ If Chris Ferguson can do it, why can't I? And along the way, perhaps I can improve my NLHE skillz, which of all the formats I'm probably the weakest at. Except for maybe Stud, or Stud Hi/Lo, or NL 2-7 Single draw or ... So here we go... The plan: :diamond: Freerolls and $0.40 Double-or-Nothing tournaments to $10.00 :diamond: Freerolls and $1.00 Double-or-Nothings to $20.00 :diamond: Freerolls, $1.00 Double-or-Nothings and NL 2 cash to $50.00 :diamond: NL 5 cash at $50.00 (keeping the freerolls and DoNs) :diamond: NL 10 at $100.00 and move up to the $5.00 DoNs Binking one of the freerolls would make me an instant $100.00 Also, I just noticed that 888 has PLO8 DoNs which would suit me just fine. I'm back

I never went away, actually...
On Jan 31 I had two 16.50 tickets, and by mistake registered to these tournaments using cash -- it is the default on 888 to take the buy-in from cash, rather than use a ticket.

Thus, my bankroll took a 33 dollar hit. Ouch! that was nearly half of all my hard work down the tubes.

I've recovered mentally, and I've almost recovered my bankroll.

Oh Bother!

888 has changed the type of ticket that is awarded in the daily spin.
In the past you could get something if you cashed in the top 25% of the field, now the top 600 players get a $5.00 ticket. In today's freeroll, there were 15,533 runners, which means that you need to finish in the top 4% to get anything.

I've done that only 4 times in the daily freeroll, and once in another freeroll.

I guess I will just have to play some cash games to continue the bankroll build...

I'll update the results after today's stream...

I do get free bets from time to time, but I have no clue about pro sports of any kind.
I have $3 bucks waiting for me to use right now, but haven't any idea who to bet on.

I'll probably just use it to bet on one of my two favourite Canadian Football Teams:
:diamond: The BC Lions
Whoever is playing Calgary Stampeders

Anything I won on sports bets or Casino is under "other".
I used to place a $1 casino bet on Thursdays to get into the Casino freeroll on Saturdays, but I haven't done that in a while.

You can also bet on a match when you almost sure you get money from. Off course the rating will be bad.

It's okay for free bets. Even if the odds are at 1.01 or so, it's essentially just an easy cash-out.

True, but if you get only a few cents with a free bet I would use a higher rating.

Satellites!

I've been playing "Freebuy" satellites to help get me into into tournaments with better payouts.
Today, I entered one mistakenly thinking it would get me a ticket to a $5.50 tournament, but instead I got a ticket to a 2nd tier satellite

A straight flush helped me win a ticket in the first one, but in the second one, it took a flopped set (that turned into quads) and an aggro BTN to get me enough chips to last into the money...

Another Ticket

I've been playing freeroll satties that pay a $5.00 or $5.50 ticket
Cashed in one yesterday, and had a had a couple of decent runs in the others.

Top 50 got tickets.
Thanks to Collin Moshman and whoever it was he had on stream where they discussed satellites!
