Better late then never, or call me crazy, anyhow I decided to participate in the Bankroll Challenge here at PokerStrategy. Yeeey!

About the blog itself, I'm not sure if I'll be able to update it frequently, I'm not sure if anyone cares but I'll keep track for myself anyway and we'll see. So here we go.

Long story short, after many years and wide swings in terms of profit I have just gotten back into poker a month ago. I had €10 remaining in my PokerStars account which I ended up loosing pretty fast. I deposited €15 at Unibet. Unfortunately I'm not playing tracked at Unibet so I'm not earning points here and I'm exlcuded by the rake race and such but I still like to play there because I play without a HUD. At PokerStars it feels you're in such a big disadvantage these days if you are playing without a HUD. It makes more sense to battle with equal weapons. Realising I literally haven't played in ages I also started reading some books I have laying around. One these books is The Mental Game of Poker by Jared Tendler and Barry Carter and it's that book actually I've always wanted to read again someday and one of the reasons that made me return to my old hobby. Barry is also part of the community here which is pretty cool. .

I have been playing or at least studying almost every day since I started playing again. Sometimes for a very short period, sometimes longer sessions in the weekends. My bankroll went pretty solid from €15 to €50 in 3 weeks. A losing streak combined with tilt issues made fall back to €5 in 4 days. Which only got me more frustrated and almost lost my confidence and motivation. It's the Mental game of poker book that helped me to put things in perspective and realising that many of the losses wheren't all necesairly bad plays that give me back my focus and so I added some freerolls and things started to get better again. A week later I got back to around €30

One of the things I struggle most with at the moment is the amount of regs and fish. It hits me so hard I started another topic on this somewhere on the forum. It really feels like, just as in nature, overfishing has lead to the removal of fish from the seas. Maybe where not there yet but things certainly don't look great. The game is certainly changed a lot and it is so much harder to stay ahead of the competition.

All in all it took much longer then I was expecting but after almost 20K hands I have finally roughly doubled my bankroll even though it feels like I could have tripled it or even better. But we are here and we have a mission and we'll see where it leads to.

The goal is grinding it out from the lowest stakes while gaining experience, honing skills and getting ready with a large enough bankroll to safely move up in stakes in order to maximize profit. The sky is the limit but right now it would be amazing to have 100 buy-ins for NL10 which is a €1000 bankroll.
I might never make it or if I do it could literally take forever but we'll see how it goes. When things go well I will probably take shots at MTT's or other opportunities to speed up things. :f_thumbsup:

The Stats:
========
Start @ 23/10/2021 and a €15 chip

Starting BR: €15
Current BR: €38
Goal: €1000

I decided to play a satelite with my previously won entry ticket while multitabling at a cash game table. The Satelite played like a freeroll and pretty fast it ended up in a shove/fold or shove/call fest. I didn't finish ITM after 45 mins of play. The cash table didn't go any better. Only mega NITS where playing this evening. Everybody either folds to my pfr or 3-bets. In 45 mins I got to the showdown just once in a pot where I was involved and lost a €1.5 pot. I was just lucky with one hand where I made the nuts (sadly not the hand that went to the showdown) but did however won a decent pot. I only saw one time where there was an allin situation with AK vs QQ with AQ6 on the flop. Well timed bluffs sure work but with pots always that small there's not much to gain. I played well and did not tilt but not much gained in the last hour.

Unfortunately for the blog (but I'm in favor of their policy) Unibet doesn't allow to export hands but here's a visual from my one pot won this session.

Welcome to the BR challenge!
Good luck with your goals - I'd recommend in that hand to simply go all in! You triple what you get from villain compared to just minraising and I doubt he folds more than 1 out of 3 compared to your minraise.

Thank you. You are probably right especially since we both are not very deep.

I had a rough week. I was building my bankroll up to around €50 again. Then decided to take a shot at the hexapro's and that turned out te be a bad decision. I lost all my profit of the week and more in just a couple of minutes. Some tilt and frustration got the better of me and decided to quit for a day. I came back with clear mind and decided to take another shot, this time at a couple MTT's. One time I ended up at the final table taking €40 with me and used that to to take on some other MTT's and eventually lost the €40 also. The cash tables didn't go really well either, allthough mostly was due to running bad my play was decent. But nothing to do when you got allin preflop with AA and you're opponent hits a flush with AQo these things happened quit a lot and destroyed all profits I made ending the week with

Hands played: 3011
Starting BR: €39.68
Current BR: €30.58
Profit: €-9.1

Update: After a couple break-even sessions at the cash tables I decided to take another shot at the MTT's. It feels good and start to believe there are still possibilities and hard work does pay off. Sadly I wasted most of my profit to join other MTT's where I couldn't make it in the money. Still think I must be on the right path to victory.

Not many cash tables this week because I was busy with other stuff. I did play a few other MTT's and hexapro's in the weekend and I managed to end 3rd place! Boosting my BR nice this week!

Time invested: ~110+ hours (at the tables)
Total hands played: 31631
Total MTT's played: 109 (includes many freerolls)
Total BR: €110.86
Net profit: €95.86

How did you lose it? Tilt or going higher too soon?

I understand your view how you need HUD at stars. Pokerstars tilts me so much 🙂 So many nits and solid players..even on NL5.. it feels like TPTK is nothing and if they call second barrel I feel Im dead already😂😂 I moved to partypoker and suddenly I feel I can breath again. On NL10 I meet so many people with stack bellow 5$. Feels like NL2 on stars. Playing without hud is actually better. One can concentrate more what is villain doing more than stats.

I missed this before...
I had thought that it would be fun to grind a bankroll into dust to see how long I could stretch it out.

The idea would be to play "just a bit" higher stakes than the bankroll should allow, then see how long it would last.
I would only do it with OPM[1] though.

Cheers,
VS

[1] OPM == Other People's Money. For example, my current 888 bankroll started at 20 cents — we could use that. We we'll play solid poker, just at a higher level...

Ikr sometimes it's just about outnitting your opponents only to get sucked out on the river. Sadly I can't play at partypoker in my country. The choice for poker rooms is very limited.

I underestimated the ride and was not well prepared enough. It's lesson learned.
Oh you mean like kind of like stacking. Interesting thought.

Anyway. I have time to reflect. Adjust my game plan, fix some major leaks and I am ready for a restart: you can follow it here.
