Hello all! I've been looking to start a bankroll challenge for a while now! The very first time I played poker was just under 2 years ago, and since then I've been studying and playing online microstakes whenever possible; I absolutely love the game. It looked something like the following:
December of 2020, deposit $70 on WPN and enroll in MicroGrinder Poker School. Over the course of several months lose about $30.
Let's try again! ~$80 on Ignition. Continued to study and got used to folding with junk and folding against aggression. I think I was too sticky and aggressive before. I perform better, but jump up stakes at the end of the month trying to get more out of my 1st deposit bonus -
silly mistake right! End up at about $40.
After a break for a couple weeks, I decide it's time to try tournaments. I figure it would be a shame to spend all the time on cash only to find out way later that I really like tournaments. I play SnGs and MTT SnGs for a while and eventually realize I do like STTs quite a bit. I realize I like the idea of hyper turbo 6s, and studying push/fold and ICM adjustments in ICMIZER made future improvement seem simple!
Therefore, from the middle of last year to current, I play probably about 1,500 SnGs, mostly hypers. ROI over all sites for 6hypers is anywhere from 4% to 10 or even 12% at times with most frequent stake at $1.50 and $2.
ROI is 12% on Ignition with first 500 played, about 7% on WPN with my first 500 Hypers as well.
I played a couple hundred Hypers also on BetOnline and Global Poker where I run hot at first. For global: $40 to $140 pretty quick, now at $124. Not sure about tournament count and ROI for Global.
As for BetOnline, a good mix of traffic and soft tables allows me to grind $70 to $186. ROI is 12% after 400 games. Also, grind WPN at the same time. I have most recent graphs for these:

Ideally, my history shows I have the potential to study, play, and improve when it comes to STTs. Furthermore, STTs may be a better fit for me than cash, and therefore, as I embark on a new format with this new bankroll challenge, I may have the right disposition to study and play Spin and Gos!
Since this is my first bankroll challenge, I'll smart small by keeping track of the minimum starting amount of $100 with the minimum goal of increase my bankroll to $500. As mentioned in title and intro, I aim to accomplish this goal my studying and playing Spin and Gos.
Even more important, are the microgoals I'll create and modify along the way.
For now, I can say with certainty, that I've always played better as well as enjoyed the game more when I focus only on making the best decision each and every time. Go all in and get it in bad last hand? No problem, I still have more opportunities coming up to make the best decision. Did I make the right decision, but just lose a big part of my stack on a table with a high multiplier? No problem doesn't matter. In the long run, I'll be making money if I keep making the right decisions. In fact, it's funny that this is a bankroll challenge, but thinking about your roll during play can be detrimental.
Ideally, I'll want to get to the level where I can create a monthly plan and stick to it. For now, I'll probably be testing out different microgoals from week to week.
I've had tremendous success using stickk.com to put up money for charity (or putting up money for family members), in the event I'm unable to meet my goal. I haven't just done poker either, I've also done weight loss/fitness (most recently), and challenges relating to my full time job as well.
An example below:

Furthermore, for time-based studying, I've tried a number of different computer and mobile timers. I've found toggl track to be my favorite:

More to come regarding stickk goals and tracking for the challenge, as well as other tools such as HUDs, table management software, and desk setup.
I plan on learning pre-flop charts little by little, as well as watching a number of Spin and Go videos that cover post-flop in GTO with a solver. I also may run unique spots I see in a solver I've bought.
For learning the pre-flop charts, I aim to quiz myself routinely by filling out the range of a certain open spot in Equilab, and then referencing the corresponding chart to see if I'm too loose or too tight.
I also plan on reviewing my ChipEV by position, to help me determine where my leaks are.
I look forward to elaborating more on my study, and hearing feedback on my study notes - or any feedback in general for that matter.
If you're looking to follow a few different bankroll challenges or poker blogs, I would welcome you to follow mine. My background creates an interesting hypothesis for someone new starting out in Spin and Gos: Can someone who has shown to be weaker in cash game environments yet shown some promise in 6max hypers make a successful transition into Spin and Gos?
Bust or boom, I hope that you find a few study methodologies or tools and resources I use to be beneficial.
Thank you for reading my first post, Let's (Spin and) Go!!!
