Results follow:

BB shows high card queen(Jh Qh).

Hero shows two pairs, nines and eights(9c 8c).

Hero wins with two pairs, nines and eights(9c 8c).

He had some standard stats, 3bet around 4% and AF 2,7.

I like call pre w SCs IP. I put him on overpair and can get his money if I hit suitable flop. On flop I guess it is good to call and let him value bet. (FD flop I would raise as he can go broke with overpair easily on FD board).

Turn is a good card and the flow it develops according to my plan, so I just bet/call shove.

Nh?

I am not sure if the call pre is +EV but i am sure that it cant be too bad b/c u r IP and deep.
Postflop, nh.
btw i would call pre with every pocket except AA (including KK) b/c of deepness.

I like that call because I have more information about him than he has on me and I have a position on him. Somewhere I heard that SCs can be defended from 120bb deep IP, so if we were 148bb deep it may be EV+ if wp postflop.

that is interesting about the defending SC 120bb deep, I have never heard about it but it makes sense. Dont worry I dont play rush any more. :)

I'm also really interested in this SC at 120 BB deep, can anyone confirm this?

edit: His 3b pre is quite large which might change how deep we need to be.

nh. I think pre is fine - if he is 3betting tight, as in this case. I thought about raising flop but I think as played is better. You would like big Ax to catch up on the turn and you can see another card without worrying too much.

Afaik Cole South mentioned the 120BB for calling SCs vs a 3bet IP.

As for the hand:
You should think about why you call the flop: You said because you wanted him to valuebet again. So do you think he folds overpairs to a raise?

I'm not saying the call is bad, w/o any history I'd also call because almost no one 3betbluffs and he even has a hard time with TT, JJ and QQ.

=> Nh (on the turn we can obv not do anything else).
