NL 100 JJ shove

Much prefer to call preflop. When you 3b JJ in this spot, you just end up hating life when you get 4b. He is virtually never calling off the shove with TT so when he DOES call you are flipping (best case) or crushed.

Your logic for the play is solid, but I still think this is a bad spot to be doing it. If it's CO vs BU with the same history, I like it fine.

Point is, you are basically turning your JJ into a bluff vs his perceived light 4b range when you shove.

Imo if you have reason to believe he's 4betbluffing, it's a nice spot to 3bet - we expect to play a ~45BB pot IP with a hand that is far ahead of his range, this is obv much better than playing a 7.5BB pot (if we just called his openraise).
However, I think against his wide 4bettingrange that includes many bluffs we should just call the 4bet.
As Tim said by 5betting we'll get his bluffs to fold and still get it in vs AK and QQ+ - we have only 36% against this range.

Phil, just to check, if we go for the line where we call the 4b ip is the plan to go broke (i.e. shove vs the presumed cont bet) on any flop? Or are there some flops where you would find a fold?

On Qhigh+ I'd just call.
On the turn we can reevaluate whether to call a shove or c/b in case he checks to us.
In case I assume he's aggro and I'll go broke on any board I'd still much rather call the flop and call any turn - again we're always getting it in against TP-type hands but we can potentially induce bluffs (of course if you think he could b/f something like K5s on a K9x flop - shove it in all day.
