Firstly, this is a FL blog, so all you NL players who roll their eyes at FL move along ![]()
Secondly, the opening post is long winded, so those who read it all I'm greatly appreciative, and future posts won't be so long ![]()
BACKGROUND
I'm a 29 year old born and raised West Aucklander (thats in New Zealand). My girlfriend and I have a 2 year old boy, (Calais) and twin boy and girl who are 1. (Damion and Izabella) About 5 months ago I was diagnosed with diabetes. In my early 20's I was pretty rebelious and into drugs, until 4 years ago when I got clean and changed my ways. Thats when I discovered poker.
POKER
I started off playing pub poker freerolls, which are just drunken donkaments. You get extra chips just for buying drinks or raffles, which meant you could become chip leader without playing a single hand. My biggest acheivement there was a 2nd place (250+ ppl) in the North Island finals.I stay away from these games now.
I didn't start playing online till about 2 years ago, as I was pretty computer illiterate. When I did start, a mate shipped me $2 on stars, which I built up to around $24 playing 25c 45 man SNGs. Then I lost it all trying to satelite into big tornies. I had no idea about BRM.
I then got into a staking deal playing 45 man SNGs. As I was making myself f#@k all, I soon ended this deal.
Then I found PS.com.
I passed the quiz and got my $50 starting capital on Full Tilt. (Durrrr's my favourite pro BTW). I played mainly $1 9max SNGs and NL2. Alas, I lost all but $2.50 of my BR
After a couple days break I thought I'd give $.05/.10 FL a go. (I also learned you could potentially make a living playing FL online) I did a quick 'basic strategy train' and played my first session. I finished with a 15BB profit. The allure of not losing my entire stack in 1 hand got me hooked.
I studied all the strategy articles, watched the videos and attended TerrorBlades coaching sessions, and I'm proud to say I grinded my BR to $60 ♠_biggrin:
That brings me to my blog, which I told myself I'd start if I got to move up stakes.
THE NEXT STEP
I don't play during the day so I can spend time with my kids. (I'd probably only get distracted anyways) This means I only play after 7pm. I 4 table (only have a 15" screen for now) and play 800+ hands, around 3 hours. (all the serious grinders are going "pffff")
My next session I'll be playing $.10/.20. I'll post daily session reviews on days I play, along with the 3 most interesting/frustrating hands at the end of the week. And at the end of the month I'll post my graph.
If my BR drops to $30, I'll move back to $.05/.10, and when I reach $150, proceed to $.25/.50. (FT have no stakes in between)
I'll also keep posting hands in the evaluation forum, and attend TerrorBlades weekly coaching sessions. (He's also a Kiwi BTW).
So wish me luck and watch this space ♠_cool:
(now that you've read all this you've earned a heineken)
