Hi Pokerstrategy,
I would like to play poker live in the casinos - however the casinos appear to charge an hourly rate rather than taking rake.
My question is:
£1/£2 Stakes, £5 per hour - Is this good? And is it worth playing?
Thanks,
Chris

I think it's nothing from casino point of view, that's 2.5BB an hour, If you think that is a lot then you probably shouldn't be playing £1/£2.

You're in fine form tonight!
Running good are we?
As someone mentioned, the fee the OP quoted works out to 2.5 BB/Hr.
Assume that the table plays 50 hands per hour.
So it costs 5BB/100 to play there.
If you're winrate at NL 200 is > 5BB/100 it is a good deal.
If not, then it probably isn't.

This rake is soo awesome and definatly worth playing IF you have an appropriate BR.
This rake is soo low that it is probally -EV for the casino to host these games (dealers/floormen/securty/fixed costs of tables and shufflers, etc.). In almost all places, poker is the least profitable game for any casino to spread but it brings people into the casino whom the casino managers hope will play other games.
Hello, I dont want to hijack the thread, but what is the average rake in casinos? Where I play its 10% per pot that goes to flop and max 3$ for NL100.

Thats definatly on the high side but still very beatable. Mine is 5% up to $5 in 1/2 500 max and the same at 2/5 2K max.

Ours in 5% up to £5 on both 0.5/1 and 1/1 tables. Not sure on the 1/2 tables as its VERY rare they run.
As for paying only £5 Rake for an hour, I'd bite their arms off.
You realise the £5 a hour is from every player though.
Good for lags bad for nits imo

I think live it's more like 20-25 hands per hour
I understand the £5 is not much - it was only due to the speed of dealing and there only being 30 hands or so an hour and therefore not being dealt too much, only have to steal a few blinds...
- The casino is quite a nice one (Genting) - As I live in the UK live poker is a rarity however I shall go and have a play down there

The house only taking 50 Pounds per hour off the table is rediculusly good for everyone at the table tho you are right time rake is better for LAGs.
