Preflop: Hero is SB with J A
UTG calls, MP calls, CO folds, BTN calls, Hero raises, BB folds, UTG calls, MP calls, BTN calls

Flop: (9 SB) Q T 8 (4 players)
Hero checks, UTG bets, MP folds, BTN calls, Hero calls

Turn: (6 BB) 6 (3 players)
Hero checks, UTG bets, BTN calls, Hero calls

River: (9 BB) A (3 players)
Hero checks, UTG checks, BTN checks

UTG : 33/11/1,5/1,0 (VPIP/PFR/3B/AF)
Fold flop to Cbet : 41%

BU : 50/24/7,5/1,4 (VPIP/PFR/3B/AF)
Very bluffy. He often plays calldown with anyPair. Almost always plays bet vs missed cbet.

On that river should I play donk ? I don't see many flashdraws in opponents' ranges. Ace is very scarry card for them. Q probably will pay me off.

i dont like the bet on river. but at the same time its worth a try. expect to be called down by small flushes 7 high and down or they just fold. I dont think a Q without a flush will call.. at least thats what i would expect .

I like the way you played that hand but on the River you should have donked out. On the Flop you decided to check. Which is a good play, facing 3 more opponents yet to act. On this boardtexture you'll never win unimproved. You literally have no foldequity. At least on of them will have something thats worth to continue with. So your hand changed into the category of a decent drawing hand.

On the river i understand why you didnt bet. You were scared about someone having J9 or already a 2pair or something but thats not frequently enough the case and once you did raise preflop , you check/called twice, your range so much leaned towards AJ and AK that you won't achieve valuebets by worse hands but you'll be certainly called by worse when you donk the River. UTG seems pretty nitty so you could donk and fold if he's gonna raise the River. If UTG folds and BU raises, obviously you gonna show off your hand and if UTG calls and BU raises, according to your read, you gonna show off as well as you described him as bluffy and he may use that scarecard for that purpose though he's not supposed to do so.

Further suggestions?

Everything is clear for me right now ... thanks.

I don't like this flop check. We have a lot of equity and would generally prefer bets go in. Checking also decreases our implied odds significantly.

So what's our bet on the flop then, and what's our plan for the turn/river?

4-way I don't think the normal rules of C-Betting apply (Odds of all our opponents foldign are miniscule). Our bet isn't really for value because the chances of us winning unimproved are pretty much 0 and bluffing AJo vs this crowd seems to be a bit spewy really (UTG is pretty tight, just nitty and Button probably has didlly squat)

Yes we may have an equity edge on the flop, albeit probably not a big one, but how the remainder of the hand is going to play out would ward me a little bit off just being straight up aggro here.

Not saying I disagree totally but I'd like for you to expand your position a bit.

I disagree that we don't have a large equity advantage. I'm getting 32% equity 4-way. To create a frame of reference, AT has 34%. I don't agree that there is no chance of winning UI as well. Even a 3-4% is non-trivial in these large multiway spots.

As for the plan going forward, I would:

3-bet/cap the flop if it came back 4-way (for value)
3-bet the flop if UTG called, MP folded and BT raised assuming UTG has a reasonable WtSD. I would bet the turn and c/c the river in this case HU with BT.
Call UTG's raise HU/3w intending to fold the river UI.
Call BT's raise HU intending to calldown.
Call MP raise HU/3w without any read.
Lead the turn HU/3w and call a raise; 3b K. J is the only really tough spot imo.
Check the turn 4w except A/K/9.
C/r the turn on a K against MP/BT flop raise that I called.
Donk A/K/9 otherwise unless the flop is 3b or some other rare action occurred.
C/c the river UI HU with BT if I thought he wouldn't raise all his draws (I might also value bet HU w/ BT if I thought he would play aggressively with everything except some weak Ax, but that would be fairly rare.)
C/f river UI otherwise.
Lead any improvement on the river assuming I have the lead 3w/hu-fold to a raise on J and possibly to UTG on an A depending on his AFq/river IP raise %; would call a raise on a 9 vs UTG/MP, but 3b BT. Ofc 3b K.
C/r/cap river without lead on K; donk or c/c A depending on previous action/player; donk/call 9; donk/fold J hu with a player I thought had worse a significant amount otherwise c/f.

Some of these would change at the table as I would have a fuller set of information about the players.

In any case though, I think we mostly disagree about the about how -ev it is to get raised on the flop here. A lot of times it isn't -ev at all. When it is, it's not costly enough to deter us in my view. When it's not raised we are almost always better off having bet. Therefore, I don't really see much downside.
