I’m not too happy to see an ace flop, since there are a lot of Ax hands in my opponent’s range. Still I feel like I have to make the standard c-bet. He’ll call with 55-88 and I'm happy if he folds overcards to my nines.
Also, if I get raised, I can be pretty sure he has an ace (or a set) since the board is very dry. I’ll be able to get out of the hand on the turn if I don’t make a set and he fires again. If I just check, I wouldn’t know where I am, and would probably end up calling down, which I wouldn’t be thrilled about.
Turn: (4.25 BB) J

Hero checks, BB bets, Hero folds.
I didn’t like making this fold, since my check on the turn was an invitation for my opponent to take a stab at the pot. But I can’t think of any hands in his range which (a) are worse than my pair of 9s, (b) he would call with on the dry ace-high flop, and (c) he would bet with on the turn rather than check behind to see a showdown cheaply (i.e. I have to take 55-88 out of his range).
