4 folds, SB raises to $0.40, Hero raises to $1.20, SB calls $0.80

Flop: ($2.40) J Q 9 (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $1.40, SB raises to $5.60, Hero folds

SB- 24/18 over 530 hands, AF 6.0, RFI 47% (38),fold to 3bet 64% (11), cbet 61% (28), c/r 22% (9),

feels a bit nitty to fold here but have been running pretty badly so didn't want to invest too much on this wet board. was this a result-oriented play?

Preflop: looks fine

Postflop: That's a pretty huge raise but we are in a 3-bet pot vs a surprisingly aggro reg.

BvB I think that this fold is indeed nitty vs someone like him. And given he could have some bluffs as well or worse hands I feel that 3-betting is our best plan (unless you have bet sizing tell).

I'd recommend running an equilab on his potential range here. I'd exclude hands like QQ and some JJ, and definitely most AA/KK.

I suppose because of how i was running i didn't want to commit too much money on this texture even though his range is pretty heavily capped.

It's obviously a pretty high variance spot (short term) here where there are many better hands but also many worse that can raise.
