BU 18/14 AF:0,8 fold to 3bet:0(2) 58h.

Pre: standart

Flop: standart cbet for value+protection.

Turn: betting for value vs FD's, 88-JJ.

River: I don't see much value, 89s, FD, TT got there. I think the only Qx he has is Qcxc. So IMO x/f is fine. Given his low AF I think he will only bet better hands.

Hand converted with online PokerStrategy.com hand converter:

Play hand

$0.05/$0.1 No-Limit Hold'em (6 handed)

Preflop: Hero is SB with A:d, A:c.
3 folds, BU raises to $0.30, Hero raises to $1.00, BB folds, BU calls $0.70.

Flop: ($2.1) 3:c, 6:c, 7:d (2 players)
Hero bets $1.20, BU calls $1.20.

Turn: ($4.5) Q:s (2 players)
Hero bets $2.20, BU calls $2.20.

River: ($8.9) T:c (2 players)

The turn card is not really the best card to cbet, in a dryer board you can consider c/c since the Q gives you way to much FE versus his range. The drawiness of the board shouldn't be big deal since we're in a 3bet pot, so c/c could be marginal. With some more infos even a c/shove could have been an interesting move, but probably not against a random.

His AF out of 58 hands is certainly not that accurate so decide to c/fold the river is really sick. Btw his flop and turn action makes clear the fact that he might have a 2nd pair or something that checks behind, while he's not likely to bet in bluff. So I agree with you in x/f

Flop: standart cbet for value+protection

The final decision you take (the cbet) is correct, but both "standard" and "protection" are wrong and misleading concepts in poker.

"Standard" is simply sensless: practically means to do something just because everyone does so. You get really good at poker only when you consider all the possible alternatives and you can't to do so by thinking at things at "standards".

"protection" is connected to the fact that you're trying to don't give good pot odds to draw hands to call. Correct. But that's not the main reason for which you should bet. You are betting for value only, with the intention of getting called by weaker hands, and since there is a huge range of weak hands that is calling the flop, then you want to get a lot of value and you bet big.

Of course your cbet is perfect, but try to explain your hands w/o thinking to standard moves. I improved a lot in my game when I focused more on concept of "value" and "bluff" and removing the idea of "standard". :)
