Hey, I managed to play headsup in turbo tournament, 1st place 780$ or 460$ 2nd place.

I'd like to get some ideas or maybe some mathematical approach/advise on a marginal hand, that might be overplayed by me.

Throughout all FT he was not too actively, 3handed he minraise/folded a couple of times, other than that nothing "fancy" or overly loose/tight.
Opponent wasn't too much out of line, he had 20BB and I started headsup with 10BB, first hand he shovs K2o, I call K5s and we split.

Now the key hand:

I pick up Q7o and decide to shov, since I assume he'll fold more often than not. Minraise+fold is out of question to me in that scenario, because we aren't deep enough and it could be exploited too easily (for example he might not call a shov with 109s, but reshov to minr.)

What are your thoughts on Q7o? To me it appears to be borderline, eventually he had K8s, called and I lost, but as we all know it's not about that.

Was shoving "wrong" and is it clear fold or is shoving "ok" given stack sizes?

P.S. If he shoved 20BB and I hold Q7o with my 10 BB, I fold for sure. :f_thumbsup:

I have moved your thread to the hand discussions tournament section.
This way you get faster feedback of tournament players.

If I had Q7o with 10bb stack I had pushed also with it. I expect there were also antes in play. Without antes it’s a closer spot to push here.

Further I recommend to read the thread https://forums.pokerstrategy.com/forum/thread.php?postid=1432571#post1432571 well.
There you find all information how you can post a hand the proper way.

Cheers,

Q7o is a good shove for 10BB. However, vs some tight opponents you can still min raise fold some marginal pushes/folds, since they won´t be shoving over your raise as wide as they should. Of course, limp is also an option.

Q7 is above average hand, so shove is fine.
Against some opponents min-raise/fold is fine and also limping should be fine.

Thanks for the feedback!

In that case I feel comfortable with it again, it just went so quickly and I wasn't sure because of short stack, now I am again. _cool:

Start from there: http://www.holdemresources.net/h/poker-theory/hune.html

Q7o is a shove for 10.3bb or less.
K8s is a call for 17.6bb or less.
Q7o would have been a call for 8.0bb or less.
