I have decided it's time to learn to think in ranges, since it gives a huge edge in hand-reading in he micros (people are so honest there).
One of the fatal flaws of my game is the super stupid river calls. You know which ones. The "Nahhh, no way you have it" calls. That is costing me too much money, so I have decided to slow down my playing for a while, and focus on learning to read hands better, so I have reason to accompany my intuition.
This exercise is NOT to find out whether I should have called here or not (but feel free to comment on that), but to try and develop my range-thinking skills.

Comment:
PREFLOP: A small raise from early position from the villain...
- He has a big hand (AA, KK, QQ, AK) and is trying to get called or 3betted.
- Has a pocket pair, and is trying to make it expensive to other pocket pairs and connectors to call, since he is shortstacked.
- I don't think he has connectors, since then why not just complete the blind?
- Also, Why is his bet sizing so small?
That leaves us with the range: 55+, AT+, KJ+
I 3-bet, and he calls.
- The call leads me to believe that he doesn't have AA, KK, AK or even QQ
- Maybe he has a speculative hand, or a pocket pair, waiting to connect on the flop.
Range: AQ-AT, JJ-22, KQ, KJ
Flop:
As the aggresor, and sice there is only 1 combo with nines in the range I think he has, I c-bet 2/3xpot for value.
He re-raises.
Now, I think he has trips or better, and I should have folded.
