Hi, I am fairly new to playing poker, and even newer at this forum so please be nice, if this is the wrong part of the forum, I apologise... I just wanted an opinion from people who know what they are talking about.
My chip stack: 18000
Average chip stack: 20000
Blinds: 400/800
I'm on the big blind with K♠: J♦:
4 callers, I then raise 3000
UTG+1 calls. Everyone else folds
Pot is now 10000
Flop: A♦: K♦: Q♦:
I bet half the pot (5000) , he pushes all in for 25000
I had to assume I was up against at least an ace. With the nut flush draw, straight draw and middle pair, but only middle pair, should I have folded at this point?
The player had been very aggressive all game and was very loose with his chips, even though this was a knockout tournament.
Anyway, I called, reluctantly...
Turn: A♦: K♦: Q♦: 9♦:
River: A♦: K♦: Q♦: 9♦: Q♣:
He showed A♣: Q♠:
Should I not have bet the flop? Or should I have only called the all-in if I flopped a set, or already hit the royal flush? What would you have done?
