Hi,

Poker Stars, $0.01/$0.02 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 3 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

SB: $3.35 (167.5 bb) (VPIP:34.00;PFR:24.00;Hands:69)
Hero (BB): $3.71 (185.5 bb)
BTN: $1.60 (80 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BB with Q 5
BTN folds, SB raises to $0.06, Hero calls $0.04

Flop: ($0.12) A 3 8 (2 players)
SB checks, Hero checks

Turn: ($0.12) 6 (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $0.06, SB raises to $0.30, Hero calls $0.24

River: ($0.72) 2 (2 players)
SB bets $2.99 and is all-in, Hero folds

PreFlop - SB raises 1 pot. I call.

Flop - SB checks. I prefer to check as well as I don't want to expose myself to a raise before I can see the turn card. On the other hand, I can always take the initiative on the turn and decide whether to bluff the river or not whenever I don't improve.
Turn - SB checks. I bet for value. SB raises 1 pot. I call because even though I have a very strong hand I want to control the pot size.
River - SB bets all-in. I think that it only makes sense that he has a flush as well. I'm not sure that he would play lower flushes the same way.

Would you have called the river bet?

Thanks

Villain would have bet his made hands OTT himself. I agree with re-raise turn. I would call this river. This is a clear bluff or then villain has 45 and rivered a straight.

Bet flop and then turn if he calls (and bet river again if his turn timing lets you).
With betting you can fold out equity and you deny him the opportunity to make a delayed cbet and bluff you on turn and river. You're also making the pot bigger for when you hit your flush. Also this is the way to put pressure on his middle pairs that he wants to check/call flop with - there is no way to win the hand without hitting against those after you check back.

If you check back flop, I like your line. Just bet bigger on the turn. On the river he is polarized between Adxd (which is definitely in his range) and bluffs. It's really hard to bluff like that though... I'm perfectly fine with folding Q-high flush, the only argument I see for calling is that we're playing nl2 and people can do strange stuff there. If you're not sure, fold this and call with the better flushes.

Get that shit in on the turn. As played, call river.

We're shorthanded BvB and you have the third nuts. He can easily have lower flushes and play them this strongly.

I like the idea of putting in on turn like u guys said, but villain is oop. I think more interesting the "just call", cause give the opportunity to villain spew his bluff off. Like he possibly did.

I think you can probably start by betting the flop with these stacks. Yes, it's probably a flop that connects more with villain's range than our own, but we have position + deeper stacks and I think betting might just be more +EV at these stakes in general. As played, I would bet larger on the turn and the turn flat call seems fine vs. a spewy player. 3-betting is a decent option and it also helps protect vs. action killing rivers (any board pairing or diamond); but it also negates villain from bluffing and spazzing out (it would be nice if he had something like JdTx and would bluff the river). In general, I think a good rule is to flat call more vs. aggressive players in these situations and 3-bet more vs. calling stations (and players who overvalue their hand).

As played, I would not fold the river, even with these stacks. It's possible you do lose to Ax:diamond::diamond: (a very possible hand), but I think this is probably still a call vs. this player. I would likely fold a lower flush, however.

Macqas, I do not agree with your TP on the turn: "I bet for value. SB raises 1 pot. I call because even though I have a very strong hand I want to control the pot size".
It is true that you do basically nothing about your oppo, because you have only 69 hands, but your plan does not makes sense to me: you decided to defend your BB preflop with a very weak hand and when you hit a flush you decided to bet/call because you wanted to control the pot size? You have to extract value from your hand, you should not be scared about coolers, especially at NL2.
I prefer 3bet his checkraise because there are a lot of cards which can freeze action on the river, but I think that it is also fine just calling turn, but only for bluff inducing.
IMHO, the worst thing you can do on a poker table is missing value and on this spot you were just too scaried about an overflush.

Agree. Still, vs unknown I think calling still the best... He showed strengh on turn and ll probably do an agressive play on river too. I see a lot of guys in those limits becoming really spewy in blind war oop.

I think that AdXd is cbetting on this flop like always. Here KdXd is more possible holding.

If he is folding enough to 3bet preflop, I think we can even 3bet bluff this hand and probably show better results that way in the long run. As played, I would bet the flop vs his check because he is most likelly not very strong (why would he check Ax on that board). So, my plan would be to barrel most turns and rivers because 1) He is clearly not very strong and we can take the pot with a worse hand by the river (not importan if we have the best hand on the flop because it's not clearly the best hand) and 2) We can hit our flush and (with range manipulation if necessary - betting smaller) try to get value from those weak made hands.

As played, I think we can just fold the river for exploitative reasons because from my experience those calls would be -EV.

Its definitely a good hand to do that. If it were Q9, or even Q8, though... I think it has to be a call.

If villain is folding much even Q8-Q9 can be 3b.
