Hey guys, I'm kind of new here but I'll be posting and commenting from now on out. Here's one spot I'm having trouble with:

Hero (CO): 140.5 BB

SB: 182 BB

SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has T♣ A♥ Q♦ K♠

fold, Hero raises to 3.5 BB, fold, SB raises to 11.5 BB, fold, Hero calls 8 BB

Flop: (24 BB, 2 players) 8♦ 5♣ 9♠
SB checks, Hero bets 17 BB, SB calls 17 BB

Turn: (58 BB, 2 players) 7♣
SB bets 55.25 BB, fold,

I have couple of questions:

1. Is this a 3b defend HU IP?
2. Is this a 3b defend HU OOP if we were CO and BTN 3b us?
3. Is this ever a 4b versus maniacal 25%+ 3b?
4. Does or how does defending a 3b maybe depend on villains 3b range as in probably versus tight <7% 3b range we should fold due to proximity affect vs AA and similar domination versus AKJxds hands while versus 12% 3bettor we might elect to call?
5. Can be a hand like JT98 rainbow played similarly as this hand in this spots or is a lot worse?

I hope it's not overwhelming but I really don't know any of it so advice is appreciated.

*posting here because Im interested in all the questions you ask*

My guess:
1. If there are high 3bettors IP you should fold this hand from MP pre. Suitedness is really important in low SPRs. But you are IP and its 5 handed so its ok I guess
2. No
3. No
4. Against tight 3bets connectedness is more important, against wide 3bets - suitedness goes up in value. Thats because AAxx would often have your FDs dominated
5. I think J rundown is better than AKQTr

What he said. :)

On the hand I wouldn't bet the flop unless you have information to believe he is check-folding a lot. I would assume he bets his air often and checks to call or raise you.

1) I'd defend this 100%, probably defending like 98% of my range IP to a 3b. Is this not standard?
2) Depends on how wide the button is 3betting, I'd say it's a decent defend vs a lot of people. It seems like others disagree, so what am I missing?
3) I would have thought the answer is yes, but apparently no:

ProPokerTools Omaha Hi Simulation
600,000 trials (Randomized)
AcKsQhTd 48.63% (271,597 wins, 40,404 ties)
25% 51.37% (287,999 wins, 40,404 ties)

4) I don't think I would have folded this vs 7% 3bet IP but I suppose it's a mistake with 100bb stacks:

Vs 12% looks like it's an easy defend:

ProPokerTools Omaha Hi Simulation
600,000 trials (Randomized)
AcKsQhTd 42.73% (232,769 wins, 47,228 ties)
12% 57.27% (320,003 wins, 47,228 ties)

The bad thing about the hand is that you never make a flush. Even the strongest wraps arent that good when theres a fd out there and we dont hold it.
