It looks so much like JJ to me...
We were playing a little deep, so fold is better?
Smaller bet on the river and fold to any raise as far as I am concerned. You could bet higher on the flop as well, plenty of value there.
Check/calling the river seems like a strong play. He's gonna bluff all his missed draws and value Qx. And you escape a headache.
He doesn't really have many draws after the call on the paired turn and Qx is unlikely to value bet that river vs UTG.
I don't agree and I don't see what we'd be valuing anyway (that wouldn't bet by himself if we check).
The day where people at NL5 are gonna quit calling half pot with flush draws because the turn pairs (on an otherwise low brick card we don't have in our range) I think we can quit playing poker or at least play it really differently ♦
It is not a half pot bet on the turn and I do not see why would you continue chasing draws on a bad board texture for a wrong price with not much implied odds.
Also I think hands like Qx , TT-77 are much more likely to call a small river bet than bluff (will almost always check behind having some showdown value).
Even most flush draws that get there would simply surrender because our line is super obvious (unless players are very bad - in which case we might just induce with a small bet and call for maximum value).
Sorry for the size, I had misread 18 instead of 13 for the pot size on the turn lol, I'm so asleep.
I think people still prefer to call a draw than 77 on the turn, they so like to make flushes. It's true that they won't turn 77-TT into a bluff on the river if they have it though. But will they really call another bet with it ?
Qx could bet or not bet depending on villain and how he likes his kicker.
I think betting small on the river is way more obvious than checking ! Or at least as much on any given meta. All in all it's more interesting to check for our range and what we can hope to acomplish.
I think the "always bet/fold because people are stupid CS that always call worse and never raise better" is often overdone nowadays. People are less stupid (or at least they are stupid somewhat differently and have begun to get so used to be exploited that way they're more wary of it) and there are so much more we can do at poker to manipulate them.
Its a fold to me, its too expensive to call with just a pair.
During my last session i played an hand exactly like this and off course the villain had more than top pair agaisnt my overcard. :'(
Yup I agree with check OTR. We catch some bluffs and avoid a raise.
I didnt play this river properly.
