Spoiler

same question here when I have a goodish made hand (not a great one), some turns that could improve my hand (sometimes not to the nuts), but I m not in HU, so someone could raise me and I would had to give me up of all my equity:

Cbet or not cbet?

Turn: (27 BB, 2 players) Q♠
Hero bets 19.5 BB, fold
Thoughts and questions:

Spoiler

Didn t pot here because villain acted like he didn t have much...
On the other hand, can t go too little here because my hand is not invincible. But I still believe I picked a shitty sizing. Odds for a lot of things.

Spoiler

Hero wins 26 BB

I prefer checking the flop with overpair Kings and 2nd nfd in single raised pot because I want to have a strong overpair+fd hand in my checking range. on this flop another reason to check is that you dont hold straight/setblockers and villains should have flopped plenty of these. if we hold some blockers a bet might become an option but on those locked boards I tend to bet smaller.

I also wont call youre hand a made hand in PLO overpair is nothing, especially 3ways.

On turn you want to pot because spr <=4 and you still might run into nfd+set, double fds.

Y I'd see the KK merely as blockers to a nutstraight-redraw Villain could hold. There are some KQxx combos that might call so I think this hands fits very well for a cbet because of our villain's playertype loose passive, a player 58/14 after 160+ hands is rarely a good player, he wont be able to exploit u. All components (overpair, gs, fd) together make the hand good enough to bet the flop.

Since on straight-boards the cbet frequency is really low oop checkin is surely no mistake but better do it if u have to balance your oop range vs regulars. As Kyyberi and I mentioned so often, bet it when you have it otherwise checkfold, play straightforward against micro-stakes noobs.

I agree to pot the turn..

PLO2, bet flop all day long.

Versus 98xx you have 46% equity, and against sets you have 39%. Versus everything else you are ahead.

It's a 3way pot, so even at PLO10 or PLO25 no one is going to exploit you if your check-range is relatively weak. Even in theory, they could exploit your checking range if turn would be 6 or lower. And even then there would be the second player involved.

Protecting checking range is very important concept, when your opponents start to be good enough to understand ranges AND how to exploit unbalanced ranges. In my opinion that starts to happen rarely at PLO10, and a bit more frequent at PLO25. At those stakes though, that is not a board you should be worried about being unbalanced with your checking range.

Monotone, paired and really dry boards HU are the first ones where good players start to exploit you if you are unbalanced. As soon as the board becomes more connected and the number of players is 3+ on the flop, being able to figure out if someone is unbalanced or not (and how) and then to be able to exploit that is harded. As there are a lot more variables that affect everyone's decision making.

kyyberi is right, since there is no read on opponents being regs or know what they do you should just go for a bet because I misassumed by default we have to protect our checking range on such flops.
