Low pocket pairs from ealry and late positions ?
Specially weak hands that have 2 good cards only. Pocket oairs with bad side cards. Only potential for sets only. No straights or flushes.
Example with 2295 or 5592 from early and late position ?
Do you limp/call or raise from early position ? What about late position ?
Do you have any kind of rule in omaha to call X amount of blinds for positive set mining results ?
How do you play pocket pairs in PLO overall ?

I fold the two given hands from any position even if double suited.
I used Equilab Omaha to evaluate the pre-flop equity of a similar hand:

       Equity    Wins    Ties
MP2    49.00%  48.59%   0.41% { 2-72-79J+/op }
MP3    51.00%  50.59%   0.41% { random }

So the range means two cards 2-7, the third card is a 9 and the 4th card J+ and one pair.
This is a flip vs just one opponent.
if you're playing 6-way the chances of someone behind you holding better are enormous.

How can you play this post flop?

Cheers,
VS

There is no set mining in general in omaha. You practically always want to have some support. Only dry AAxx (e.g. AA72r) is something I would always open raise and basically never fold to raise or reraise. Reason is simply that set in holdem is fairly strong on any board. In omaha it can be lot weaker and vulnerable. E.g. lets say we flop current nuts with TT43r on T♠:8♠:5♦: flop. Now on how many turns our hand is still practical nuts? Obviously on 5, 8 or T. But then spade, 4, 6, 7, 9, J, Q, K and A change nuts. Well non spade K and A is often pretty blank but we can easily see issue here with pocket pair and no support. Especially on drawy flops its often that current nuts change on every streat. Also reason why flopped nut straight can be only mediocre strong holding.

Some of higher pockets like relatively dry QQ or dry KK we might be able to play versus raise. At least from BB but mostly pockets need other components. E.g. JJT9 single suit, 7765 double suit, KK35 single suit, etc. Also issue with small or medium pockets is that you often flop bottom or mid set when hitting set. Getting into set over set spots especially in multiway pots is way more common than in holdem.

Double pairs are bit different as you will flop set 1/4 times. Though its good to remember that bottom set is not nuts especially when getting hand like 3366. Basically dont play small pockets without very good support, e.g. 6654 double suit and even these better ones mainly in spots where you can often get to HU pot or perhaps from BB.

Btw as default never open limp in omaha cash game.

In PLO, as there are 4 cards, it's impossible to say "how to play pocket pairs" as there are all kinds of different pocket pairs. Hand strength is rarely dictated by just the pocket pair, but all 4 cards. QQ72 rainbow is a crappy hand, AKQQds or QQJTds are quite strong. And all of them are pocket Queens.

Good rule of thumb is that the lower your pocket pair is, the more you will be dominated in set vs. set situations. And they do occur in PLO with high frequency. Don't play small pocket pairs in multiway pots, as in multiway (3+ players on the flop) the chance of someone hitting a set too is higher.

The whole concept of PLO preflop hand selection and hand strength is a bit more complicated than in holdem. You would need to understand what makes a good PLO hand what doesn't.

In PLO you shouldn't just set mine. As if you hit the set and get all your money in, you are often just 60/40 favorite or 50/50 flipping versus a draw.

And as said, don't open-limp in 6max online PLO. If the hand is not good enough for open, it's not good enough for playing.

P.S. Mods, can this be moved to Omaha section?
