He can play like this with a much wider range -- Qx, 87s etc

I like your flop cbet size.
AQ is very close to the top of your flop range, so you're always all-in after cbetting. Checking is better? No, it's not.
It doesn't matter (really doesn't) if he has a set here. You cannot fold as played. There is no need to do range calculations.
Btw, I agree with Vorpal, his range is going to be wider than that simply because he limped/called preflop.
Final tip: don't be results oriented.

Tyron my thoughts:

Pre-flop:
OOP and possible multiway I would raise larger.

Flop: ok cbet you had a lot of value and ok call CO shove.

I understand that CO limps can represent a PP, but it represents a lot of hands too as Mr Vorpal said. PP's that made a Set is #6 combos in #hundreds.

You had in this board a TPTK and a flush draw at least.

You had posted a villains' range that I don't agree.
Pre-flop range: (thinking that he is 90% tigh-passive)
55+, A9+ KT+ QJ+, 65s - #220 combos and to hit this flop there are only #6 combos (55 and 66), because Q you had the nuts kicker.
