The villain has pretty low % 3 bet--- 4% and I think the should have mainly overcards here. I think it is absolutely necessary to bluff the river as I bet the turn, but IMO my bet should be much more---something like pot bet or close to it. How would you play here?

I would most likely fold pre-flop against a tight 3better. River seems not to bad.
If you would make a value bet you would bet around half pot as well.

Cheers,

Agree that you can fold pre but other wise it seems like an ok line 8 high has no showdown value so continuing the bluff is a good option imo.

Well according to my gto charts it is 100% call. In addition, sb will struggle on many boards with low and middle cards

dont let them troll you.

w/o blockers i would rather go for a 10$ bet OTR. there is a lot of stuff in your range, that wants to bet that size for value as well.

holding the A♠ i would go bigger, for value and as a bluff.

That might be true vs someone that's 3betting gto from the sb vs the btn which isn't the case with someone who's only 3betting 3% to 4% total. You want to make exploitable adjustments to exploit villains 3bet tendencies.

Yes, but i didn't mention that it is for something like 200-250 hands and we should we expect that he'll 3bet more sb vs btn. In addition, what should be my defending range if i fold 78s

the SB is the position where we 3bet the widest. so even someone w a 3bet as low as 4% might 3bet 10% SB vs BU.

by folding we generate a WR of -250 bb/100. IP this is beatable.

snowie wants to defend 87s EP vs SB as well. those are the ranges, i would look at, when facing a low 3bet %.

It's a spot you can over fold given villains 3bet tendencies you don't have to defend gto imo.And 87s is the bottom of your defending range vs someone 3betting gto so it's marginal at the best of times.

as we have already established, 87s is in the defending range even in EP w an FRI of 16%. so the RFI BU is irrelevant.

it might not be for hands like ATo, QJo, J8s and 53s, but for 87s it certainly is.

Well, it depends on the blinds. Against tighter opponents who don't 3bet a lot obviously i would open more. Something around 40% i guess

You open about 40% btn as default ?

There are about 6 smaller suited combos so it's certainly closer to the bottom than the top.

Im not saying 87s isn't usually a defend btn vs small blind im just agreeing with SDK1987 and saying we can play exploitably vs this villain because of the low 3bet.

This hand history reminds me of one I played in the Saturday $320 Total-Knockout just when they changed structure. Altough I wasn't sure if I played it well, most likely misiplayed and so with the +$20 rake on such structure I figured it's not a profitable tournament for me to play, just a glorified cash game with rake altough for winner it makes substantial discount, better than NL50 regfilled zoom tables, so for a total of $345 this could have been one of the better tournaments, depending on approach & knowledge of format.

vs a low 3bet, u fold this hand preflop.
4% overall 3bet could translate to 7-8% in SB vs BTN so perhaps this is a good call.

Flop: Probably fold this. Maybe raise this, I think it's too weak to call and when the board has a wheel draw, you are just folding so little already.

Turn: I'm not sure about your Turn strategy but I could potentially see myself splitting my hands into 2 ranges
3/4 pot bet - betting for value with TT+, 5X, draws and some air
1/4 pot bet - protection/cheap bluff/showdown with a small pair vs Ace highs

your 1/2 pot bet seems a little awkward to me, not quite sure what you might have here. Would you play a flush this way?

River: honestly the straight completing is not such a big deal if your opponent were to be using his brains. would you bet 44/54s/43s on the turn like that? Not too likely. The main thing about the river is the completion of the flush. But there are still a ton of Ace highs in your range that may call FLop bet Turn.

I still think you should bluff this anyway but it's something to think about - you rep very thin actually.

No ghaleon, you are wrong, if you bet big on rivers you can wis as much as 5 buy-ins per session on this cash game limit.
