Hi Guys,
I'm a live poker player and I've just moved to Prague. I've settled in well so far, but would like to connect with people who already live here and play poker for a living, or who have done it in the past and could give me a few helpful tips here and there. The topic of health insurance is currently at the top. I'm insured in Germany, but I have to change that now. I went through countless articles but couldn't find an answer. The classic Live Pro seems to fall through every grid.
One is not
- Pensioner / student
- Unemployed or
- self-employed?
Does anyone know about the legal status of a live player? Are taxes taken here and thus self-employed, or are you just resident "without work" but not "social benefit recipients" and pays the health insurance a minimum rate.
Would be grateful for tips.

When it comes to taxes
Under 1,000,000 CZK in winnings you don't pay tax (Winnings-Losses, without any expenses), above that you pay 15%
- this also means that you need to pay health insurance, I am not sure if it is mandatory for foreign nationals- but that group has a lot of freelancers that will know
Also there is a big expat community, you can use meetup.com to meet friends and facebook groups like that one - now it's a little slowed down with the big corona upswing. Good luck!

Even if it is not your job? Does this take into account all games? (If I win over 1M at CG and/or MTTs online, can I deduct a 5k euro loss if I am out of the money of the EPT Prague for instance?)
