Hello guys!

I played this hand on PartyPoker FastForward tablesso no stats and no notes helped me.

PartyGaming - $0.05 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: 146.2 BB
SB: 100 BB
BB: 100.4 BB
UTG: 399 BB
Hero (MP): 100 BB
CO: 134.8 BB

SB posts SB 0.4 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has K♥ A♠

fold, Hero raises to 3 BB, fold, BTN calls 3 BB, SB calls 2.6 BB, BB calls 2 BB

Flop: (12 BB, 4 players) 2♦ K♠ Q♣
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets 10.2 BB, BTN calls 10.2 BB, SB calls 10.2 BB, fold

OTF I cbet a bit bigger because of the multiway pot.

Turn: (42.6 BB, 3 players) 9♠
SB checks, Hero checks, BTN bets 20.6 BB, fold, Hero calls 20.6 BB

Not great, not terrible. Actually I don't know why I miss cbet here, I wanted to be careful because of the multiway pot. However I now think it is a mistake to give a free card here.

River: (83.8 BB, 2 players) 2♣
Hero checks, BTN bets 112.4 BB, Hero ??

Here I don't sure I am ahead. On the other hand I underrepresented my hand and I only left with 66bb, and why would villain overbet push and show unnecessary power with and like KQ, TJ or 99?

Do you agree with the river call?
What would you play differently?

Agreed -- maybe
Overbet is heavily polarized -- 9s full or busted flush. <== this from the guy who doesn't play hold'em

Would pocket 2s, 9s or Qs ever fold here?

This is a way-ahead/way-behind sort of spot.
I think playing for pot control isn't a big mistake.
Calling off a huge river bet with just top pair though could very well be so.

it was still multi way on turn and it's really tough to get to much value if you bet turn again. I don't think you underplaying your hand with in mind you make a decent Cbet on flop as well. It's likely you have a top pair kind of hand. With in mind he's betting in to 2 players on turn and shoves the river I expect you are most of the timebeat and is folding the best option I think.

Cheers,

you have 66 bb, villain isn't overbetting (that concept is called "effective stack").
his most reasonable betsize is to shove his entire range, since he'll be pot commited most of the time. biggest betsize he can use to leave folding room is 20bb or so...

i really dislike this hand fwiw, you say you're "underrepping" but you cbet over 80% pot into 3 people with only one pair, and then the turn completes the only obvious draw... i wouldn't even have called the cbet in btn's spot, nobody is bluffing multiway with this betsizing (if you are, then good job)
then you say you didn't expect him to have AJ... if you didn't expect that, then what did you expect to beat?
villain taking this line (call pre, call the preflop aggressor's show-of-power cbet, bet turn, bet river) with 96 offsuit?

I don't mind the flop 80% bet but i think a standard 2/3 is optimal. We're vs 2 opponents, the pot is already bloated and with TPTK we don't want to play for stacks.

I think you need to seriously re-evaluate the turn when he bets half pot after the previous streets action. We also block any semi-bluff AsX he could be holding, making his range stronger.
As played you probably have to call turn although i don't think the spot is going to be particularly +EV.

And the river is an easy fold. It doesn't matter that he shows AJ. Population tendencies in this spot have you crushed, and it's a losing call long term for sure.

You're right, I have a lot to learn, that's why I post hands in the discussion thread. :f_rolleyes:

KJ, K♣:T♣: and KQ the only hand I could think of and I beat and I put AK in his range, too.

Thanks you again for the comments!

fair enough. i'd say that the vast majority of players are checking behind one-pair (KJ KT), so you're effectively just bluffcatching with TPTK against a polarized range of two-pair+ and some amount of bluffs, which should be close to zero for most typical regulars.
