Equilab ranges

I was looking at the equilab ranges and found something weird. In the "PokerEvolution" branch of the preflop ranges tree, there are two subranges, one called "3bet vs pfr / SB 3bet vs openraise" and another called "BB defense call / 3bet".

First, what does "3bet vs pfr / SB 3bet vs openraise" mean? Is that range only intended to play from the SB vs an openraise or from any position? Shouldn't it be the other way around?

Second, why the ranges to 3bet from BB are tighter than the ranges to 3bet from the small blind?

If you open up those subfolders, you see that it is just a listing of % ranges in the first one, and in the second one, it is a listing of hands that you can call or 3Bet vs those ranges.

These ranges are included in a file called PreflopPredefined.ini
This Is usually in the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\PokerStrategy.com\PokerStrategy.com Equilab\
You can make a copy of this file and save it somewhere, then edit the one in the folder.
You can change the section titles, delete (or even add) sections.
If you mess things up, you can just replace the file using the copy you made.

If all you are doing is adding your own ranges, there is a file called PreflopUserdefined.ini
This is in a hidden folder that you can access using %localappdata%\Equilab

Second, why the ranges to 3bet from BB are tighter than the ranges to 3bet from the small blind?

I don't know the answer -- but I'm going to guess that PokerEvolution was a training site or training program that defined these ranges.

I'm not a developer of Equilab, so I don't know for sure...
