Yeah, yeah, I know -- I'm supposed to want them to call...
But the truth is I've no idea what I'm doing so I wouldn't mind a fold

PokerStars - $0.25 NL FAST (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: $89.68
Hero (SB): $33.63
BB: $58.47
UTG: $22.20
MP: $58.67
CO: $26.12

Hero posts SB $0.10, BB posts BB $0.25

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.35) Hero has K♥:Q♠:

fold, MP raises to $0.50, fold, fold, Hero calls $0.40, fold <<Doesn't seem strong enough to 3Bet vs MP

Flop: ($1.25, 2 players) K♣:6♠:Q♦:
Hero checks, MP bets $0.48, Hero raises to $1.96, MP calls $1.48 <<I went for the x/r because a) I don't want to donk, and b) I want to charge full price for his straight draws and AA,AK,AQ or JJ type hands. I block KK and QQ so I expected him to fold most A-rag type hands

Turn: ($5.17, 2 players) 8♣:
Hero bets $2.57, MP calls $2.57 <<bet size OK?

River: ($10.31, 2 players) 3♠:
Hero ??? <<no draws get there, what betsize to get max value?

Pre: Solid! KQs is a 3bet for me, thou!
OTF: :f_thumbsup:, seems right.
OTT: I would bet around 2/3 to 3/4 pot since u are both 100BB+.
OTR: as played, maybe its the drifter out of me, that's suggesting 125% Pot or more. :f_p:
Ideally I would bet 2/3 to 3/4 pot again (after the turn), and I am not folding this. never.

Not much more to say. Well played.

70% turn and 40-50% river would be my advise. Which is basically what Incog said as well

KQo makes a better 3bet bluff pre than a call imo as played id go larger on turn maybe 3/4p even an over bet if you use them. And river id just go big for value again maybe 3/4p or close to pot depending how you like to size bets but id be on the larger size.

As played preflop, it should be x/c flop. MP has AK KK QQ in his range, you don't. You want to balance your good hands also with weaker hands to not let villain outplay you on later streets in other cases. As villain has stronger top range on this board, will be barreling more often on turn and later streets. Because of above x/c flop and x/r turn is a better option in my opinion (or even x/c turn).

As played flop, you don't need to bet turn more than you did. 1/2 is more than enough. You block KK QQ AQ AK. You want him/her to call with draws and TP. When you bet 2/3+ you will probably not get a call.

For me this is also 3bet bluff preflop. Calling KQ oop vs MP open is not very profitable (or not profitable at all), especially when rake is high.

Props to those that called for 3Bet bluff pre.
KQo is a 3Bet bluff using the SHC I use for comparison.

River I bet about 2/3 pot, thinking I could get called by the AKs and AQs in his range, and even some overpairs, but as it happens he folded, so we'll never know.
I suspect a busted broadway draw...

When you suggest x/c flop, is this because you think this hand may be dominated, or that it is vulnerable.
If so, shouldn't we be raising for protection?

Also, I didn't mention it, but balancing isn't really an issue for me, since I play hold'em so rarely...

Thanks for the answers!

Neither one nor the other, as you shouldn't think about this hand only but about your whole range. Your hand is not dominated. Need some protection but not as if flushdraw was there. The thing is that by this x/r flop, you don't let him bluff with his weak hands, where flop is better for his range. If Villain notice that always play KQ or 66 in this spot as x/r and write this down, will be always barreling 3 streets and you will have to fold almost all your calling range preflop :)

edit//
I shouldn't say "it should be x/c flop", I should say "in my opinion it should be x/c flop" ;)
I wouldn't be calling many hands in SB because of BB and because of rake.

Just to start, NL25 Rush??? :O
Also,.. i'm not being rude here but I've never seen such nonsense being spouted. Just because villain has nuts in his range means we should x/c all value ? What on earth are you talking about! So we x/c 6's here?
nonono.......

As played:

You can definitely 3b this pre vs 2x. But calling isn't the worst. Folding, would be the worst. :f_biggrin:
Flop:
x/r is good. Definitely want to be raising here. Sizing is good.
Turn:
Go big. 5$. We're most likely ahead. Get money in the pot. Build it.
River:
Again totally bricked. Just bet big, think 80%+.
Just think simply, big hand big pot.

Cardex promo _biggrin: minimum stakes.
I figured if I played solid TAG I would see where that went.

I tend to think as though I was playing 5-Card Draw on river plays -- what would I do with two pair post-draw?
In reality though, it is more akin to 7-card stud, where two pair is definitely a bet/call OTR

Thanks for the comments.
I did bet 2/3 pot OTR and he folded.

I see that you didn't understand a word.

"You can definitely 3b this pre vs 2x. But calling isn't the worst. Folding, would be the worst"
No, calling is the worst. Folding is better. Why are you talking about something you don't understand? Go read about rake, about playing offsuit hands oop against potentially 2 opponents or how often you need to fold vs BB 3bet.

I'm not saying that 100% of the time KQ should be played as x/c. Not what I meant. It should be mixed with x/r. Smaller cbet = more raising, bigger cbet = more calling. Ok, raising flop maybe is a bit better than calling in this particular case, but not that much. If you you know that villain is aggressive, you should x/c flop more often.

"Turn:

The fact that Hero is ahead is one thing, the other is to get as much money as possible from the opponent. By betting 5, most villains will fold with draws. You don't want them to fold such hands. Simplifying the game is ok, but not always

For me KQo in this spot is 3bet or fold vs standard MP open frequency.
I am not sure that call can be better than -50bb/100.
Is it your standard call here in this position pair?

I would like to bet 2/3 pot turn.

River is interesting.. 2/3 pot looks like nice here. It depends also on his WTSD and Wonsd numbers and his thinking process of you :)

Do you play just on fast formats?

As I mentioned, I don't play hold'em much at all, and I don't have any stats on opponent

According to my starting hands chart KQ here is indeed a 3Bet bluff hand, but as such it requires folding.
(I didn't know this until I looked it up later)
I did, however realize that if I *did* 3Bet, I would need to fold to a 4Bet.
With MPs stack size and considering that I also have a decent stack, I thought it would be better to see a flop, and play from there.

I didn't want to donk the flop, and just check/calling seemed to be inviting MP to get too cheap a card in case he was drawing -- AT AJ JJ TT and lots of other worse hands can call, and there aren't a lot of turn cards that a re completely safe -- even the 8♣: that does land OTT brings more outs -- possibly nut flush draws.
So OTF I elected to x/r -- mostly so I could lead any "safe" turn, and carry the initiative through to the river.

I appreciate the comments about betting larger OTT. I was being a bit πŸ” I think.

It occurred to me while reading these comments that opponent could easily have read my hand as a draw as well.
If that is the case, I might have got some small value OTR by betting small.

TT, JJ would probably fold on your flop raise, as then Villain knows that blocks your potentially draws with Jx Tx. Additionally even if T or J on the turn gives him a set, can give you a straight (although I don't think you play x/r this flop with AT AJ)

AJ, TJ is a small portion of his opening range preflop. I would even assume that his range is even wider than normal opening as he raises only 2bb. Most people raising that small to not lose more money when fold against 3bets when have too wide range.

As in his range there are many weaker hands like A5s+ , 98s+ , 55 etc. and on the turn flusdraw probably appears + his top range crush you, you can expect cbet turn. This is wy I said that x/c flop and x/r is also an option

On the river, when all draws missed (villain should not have many of them), betting quite big make sense. If he has missed draws he will fold anyway. When you bet there much, you have polarized range, what is expected in this spot.

Fold preflop unless PFR or BB are bad. It just sucks to play in SB when BB can squeeze or flat and both actions will decrease the EV of your flatcall here.

3betting would be too loose for sure but could be good against a loose/bad opponent.

I think Flop can be both XR and XC. Bet larger on the Turn and River (75% pot) and that should be ok, maybe even slightly larger to get stacks in if you think he's loose and will pay off.

There is still a very obvious draw that missed (JTs) as well as gutshots + backdoor flushdraw
