Hey guys! Apart from a small punt I took a few years ago, I've practically been inactive for almost 10 years. I never actually played above NL10 so I decided to start microstakes cash games once again. I suppose it is fair to assume that the game has become harder during this period and this is where I want to ask whether the microstakes strats have evolved? I took a look at the old articles on the site and see they haven't been changed in the slightest. Do you reckon some modifications are necessary, e.g. looser play? It seems 95% of players are strict TAGs.

Old articles obviously are still old, but stuff like the preflop ranges i.e. https://www.pokerstrategy.com/strategy/bss/average-pre-flop-ranges-nit/ are not too old and always valuable.
What has changed is that players in general tend to (try to) play like the holy grail: GTO - game theoretical optimal play.
This leaves many with playing the TAG style. Especially on lower limits that is done superficially. While having good opening ranges, their understanding of possible implications of postflop play in 3bet pots may lack. Or their skills in playing their range when the flop comes down Jack-high vs 2 callers.
Right now it is more than ever about your own studying, sharing hands, joining discussions - and you will progress if you frequently review what you are doing and know why you are doing it.

What has changed from my perspective is the rise in PLO, and the decline of the traditional games like 5-Card Draw, Stud, Razz and Lowball
