The villain is 25/18/ATS:60/3B:55, 66 hands

Well, we do have position, I don't know about this one.

Do you guys agree with the shove?

SB: 134.56 BB
BB: 119.32 BB
UTG: 107.84 BB
MP: 101 BB
Hero (CO): 100 BB

SB posts SB 0.4 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has J♦ A♦

UTG raises to 2.2 BB, fold, Hero raises to 6.76 BB, fold, fold, fold, UTG raises to 14.24 BB, Hero calls 7.48 BB

Did you run it through Equilab?
I think that the shove is fine. a gutshot to the nut straight and the nut flush draw .

I am fresh out of thoughts other than "did opponent fold?"

Tank fold, yeah. I think this one we want to keep the opponent in the hand because it's not just a draw, we have a pretty decent SDV. And yes, I would made the nut flush on river w/o the board pairing according to GG Poker rabbit hunt. Plus we have position.

I think he folded AQo because he showed me the Ace of Club, just one card.

Edit: I added information.

Against a UTG open calling pre-flop isn't to bad ether. Now you get prized in to call a small 4bet. Otherwise I would fold.

On the flop I would call most of the time. It's tough to get value with shoving. Only reason would be to get better hands to fold and only a better top pair would fold and that's only AQ.

Cheers,

I agree with sdk.
No reason to shove when you have a nut draw IP with showdown value. Just flat and see a turn.

What's your reasoning behind shoving, what is your thought process.

My thought process is, "Okay, there is the flop, I better stick the money in now."

But in reality, my hand starts moving before I can think about anything, and I realized that I already shoved myself in.

Haha, it's easy to get ahead of yourself in these spots with how much is going on. But just dilute it down to what you have: a pair + nut draw. What sort of pot do you currently want to play for. What is the reason if i were to raise.

What you want here is to hit the flush (or straight), then get his stack. You have showdown value too, so there is no rush to force anything. Essentially you have a pair+redraw. The pot plays so much easier just calling, you can pretty much call any turn as well here.
All this said, shipping in this spot can never be that bad due to the equity, but calling is the better option.

Always call flop.
There is a chance he tank folded AK which happened to be great for you. But calling is just the better option.

About the 3bet vs call preflop - both are fine in these positions. We are 3betting what should be a pretty stong UTG range, but we are also isolating him and buying position. I would much prefer a call on the button though since we are guaranteed position. :f_thumbsup:
