I'm new here, so I don't know how to do the layouts here, especially how you can implement the suits as pictures, so any help in that department would also be greatly appreciated. Also I hope that this is the right thread to post this.
Anyway, I would like to know in what (not so clear) situations you would call to a shove. I played the following hand a few days ago and I'm wondering, if I made the right decision EV-wise.
Online NL5, 9-handed, 4.50$ effective stacks:
Hero is in BB with AdQd; Main Villain (V1) is in HJ. Villain 2 in CO.
Action folds to V1 and he opens to 0.15$. V2 calls. BTN and SB fold. Hero 3-bets to 0.60$ and both Villains call.
Flop (1.81$): 9s 8d As
Hero C-bets 1.40$, V1 shoves, V2 folds.
My thought process was the following:
I have top pair with a good kicker and a backdoor flush draw.
V1 is playing really loose and agressive. Currently we're only behind 99, 88 and AKo. V1's range is capped, since he would 3-bet AA (which also is only 1 combination left) and AKs. I obviously have the blocker to an ace, which also reduces the combinations to AKo. I would also be surprised, if he showed up with two pair here after the 3-bet since most combinations (A9,A8,98) would fold to a 3-bet.
Moreover, we get value from some weaker aces and some semi-bluffs like OESD and FD, with which I would certainly 3-bet with some frequency.
Lastly, I get decent pot-odds (calling about 2.50$ into 5.70$, so a bit more than 2:1 if my math is correct)
I then ended up calling, to which V1 shows AKo and i end up losing the pot.
Now my question is: Would you call on the flop or just fold? I just began to learn poker about a month ago, so did I miss some obvious sign here, which could have helped me to fold?
V1 obviously jams into 2 players, I have an uncapped range and range advantage. Should this be a sign to back off?
