77 on CO vs BB, bluffing maniac

Pre standard, flop we could c-bet to fold out hands that have equity (like overcards) or at least charge them to see a turn. Maybe you're checking back to allow him to open up for bluffing the turn.

As played, his overbet can mean three things really, either he's not happy with your flop checkback because he has a top-pair or better type of hand and feels like he's missing value now and/or he needs protection or he's just trying to bluff you off your hand because you showed weakness on the flop. Also he could just play a flush like this. We have information that he's a maniac, but for me it's not enough. I also want to know how he's playing his value. Some maniacs want to play their strong hands like a flush more in a "tricky" fashion. If we've seen him do this before, then it's less likely he has a flush here and just starts to pound it with overbets.

Long story short, if I think it's unlikely for him to play a flush like this, I call this down. Because now it's either a Tx or a total spazz/bluff and a playertype like this is more likely to be on the spazz-side of the spectrum.

You might want to bet OTF to prevent equity. There is one overcard already, not a good spot slowplay, not with 77 As played his line seems like a flush draw so given the info you either fold OTT or as i prefer snap call on both streets. He has a lot of busted draws in his range.

Yeah, I think usually we should bet around 33% on flop to charge. Here, I did check/back intentionally not necessarily to trap but also to prevent getting CR Huge where the maniac could potentially outplay 77 with big bets.

This villain plays more than 50% of hand and 3bets +25% of hand pre and thrives on folds, you would notice someone like this on table.

Interestingly on the other hand, if the maniac 3bet pre and TBAI, we can not fold 77 on this board. This would be true even against some LAGs especially BTN vs SB/BB.

Did look at spoiler, but I call down, 3 bet stat means nothing, in this pot. As he doesn’t 3 bet preflop. If I was him I be 3 bettting tho.
