I'm curious what are the current laptop requirements for smooth gameplay on PokerStars because it seems that the site has gotten a lot more resource hungry the last 1-2 years.

I got a chance to try a brand new ~600€ laptop with i5-1135G7 processor, 8GB ram and Intel Iris Xe graphics today and it wasn't enough. Right after installation the game was unplayable with 3-4 tables on the lowest graphic settings while no other unnecessary programs were running. GPU and CPU usage were somewhat low but the site used over 1gb ram that seemed like a lot. The system used around 70% of the ram at that moment. The game was just too laggy to be played for real.

So I wanted to try if I could lower the ram usage. I did remove some windows effects and changed PokerStars table theme to carbon lite. That helped to reduce the total ram usage of the system to around 55%. Then the game was playable but barely so.

What are your experiences with the PokerStars client while playing with laptop? Would 16gb ram be enough for it to run smoothly or does the site need a better graphic card as well?

I can't say for sure, but those specs seem quite reasonable.
I don't have a laptop to test it on at the moment, but I just opened 4 tables on an 17 with 16 GB of ram.
According to task manager, I'm using around 160MB of RAM
When I close the tables, it drops to 128 MB

Check to be sure that all of the promos and stuff are turned off
