Well you could raise pre-flop ! if you are calling with AQs then with what hole cards you will raise ? AA KK QQ only ? I think, It was obvious to him you held and A so he caught a perfect spot to drag you all-in. Chasing nut gutshots not bad but what if he had AK as an aggressor and had 2 pairs on the turn. Your AQs, is it still good enough ? Don't raise it on that spot. He could also had QT, yes this makes him donk but anyway there are plenty of them on this limits.

raise to a dollar is a mistake. you raised a dollar to 60 cent pot... If the guy had AK, you were way behind, and even AJ have you well beat.

I disagree with reraising preflop. 3 bet pots preflop almost always turn ugly and you feel obliged to call on later street becuse you have already invested and when you miss the flop completely like the OP here, you have not lost that big an amount.

I don't feel obliged to call... 3bet preflop, just over 1/2 of the pot as a cbet if called unless you have the nuts don't invest any cents. That's it IMO.

He shown no aggression with his good hand, he could have literally any two in the eyes of villain. So playing Tight - Passive will not go too far.

I´d just call turn and also call river, no need to raise with just one pair hand
