i would have raised that as well. the 4 might have completed several straightdraws but they aint that likely. bb must have been a quite loose players who is also willing to invest money with hands like 68 or 36. your kicker is good and a lot of outs can bust you out on the river. i like your play against unknown and after the 3bet you are mostly beat but the pot got to big to consider folding as a viable option.
