Hi my name is John. I didn't realise there was a forum when I registered, so I didn't choose some cool fancy posting alias. I figured I would do a blog to encourage me to do session reviews, and as a place to cry when I hit my weekly 150 BB downswing.
About me:
I started off playing SSS sometime last year. I did pretty well – but found it really boring. One day I decided I didn't feel like playing poker, and then didn't play again for the next four months. I started playing again about two months ago and decided to give fixed limit a try; FR for the first month and now short-handed most recently.
I have been struggling a bit with SH .5/1. Which is a bit strange since the player's aren't really much better than at .25/.5, which I beat to a very large degree. I think I am playing a bit weak post flop and choosing the wrong spots to call down. Variance is also possible but I'm not really confident enough in my game to know If I'm making the right decisions.
Have also been playing a bit of BSS when FL becomes too frustrating. Which is at least once a day recently.
13-Aug: FL session

Fairly boring session. I only played .25/.5, as I didn't really feel like concentrating. Didn't play that many hands and they were all pretty standard.

13-Aug: BSS session

Kind of annoyed at how the session went. I played perfectly for most of the time, but lost a stack and a half in two stupid brain explosion decisions. Which I guess goes to show that No limit is much less forgiving of mistakes in comparison to limit.
For example:

Yeah I wasn't paying attention and underbet the turn a bit. This lead to a bad situation on the river and I think an incorrect call. The villain was really annoying me. Every hand he would call down to the river and then shove. I got frustrated and called despite the fact that I'm behind quite often.
