I played .5/1 for the first 450 or so hands and was having one of those days. Hardly any hands and never hitting the flop. I was at around 12 vip / 9 pfr / 25 WTS. So naturally after changing to .25/.5 I had an amazing run of hands and flop hits and people willing to pay me off. I think I'm going to try play .5/1 all day tomorrow and see how it goes. I think I am scared of loosing at .5/1 since the pots are larger and am playing much weaker / less aggressive than I normally do. Anyone have any hints about getting over this?

Re getting over playing with scared money at higher limits, I've always just thought of bets in terms of SB and BB... the amount I'm playing with is kinda irrelevant. It's only if I'm running close to a BRM limit I might consider the amounts.

Dunno if this helps at all, but I think it is the mindset that makes the most sense.

BTW... nice to see another FL blog and that you're getting through the limits so nicely! I think the way you have been posting hands so dilligently is a major method to positive progress in your game.

Hi Waiboy.

Yeah I changed all my HEM stuff to Big bets instead of dollars. I'ts definitely a bit more comforting seeing -20 BB instead of -20 dollars : D

Now I just need to figure out how to stop looking at my graph and stats every few hands.

The other thing is to always keep in mind that the short term is basically meaningless.

Any sort of sickness can occur over a 10k sample, so a 500 hand session is pretty much a drop in the ocean, +ve or -ve it doesn't really matter.

15-Aug: FL session

Wow. I had a winning session of .5/1 for a change : D

Really had to discipline myself to call down instead of folding everything and I think it made a difference. So many marginal spot's, it made my head want to explode.

Then I played a session of .25/.5 and dropped almost 80 BB's in 400 hands. That is kind of amazing because normally a downswing at that limit = break even stretch. I guess I'll have to get used to this sort of thing if I want to play FL SH.

16-Aug: FL session

I didn't play much today because of IRL stuff. But ended about +25BB in .5/1 and the rest in .25/.5. I just realised that you actually get VPP's on Stars .25/.5 now since they changed things. Like .085 per hand up from <.01. Omg, break out the 12 table supernova grind : D. Have also been trying to answer stuff on the hand forum, just for practice to help me analyse situations.

Hard Spot: Obviously my flush isn't worth much on a paired board. However, it's 12/1 and MP3 can have a lot of non queen hands. I'm more worried about BB showing up with a 2 or something. But I talked myself into calling since his user name was Donkology007 and he had a WTS of like 60 over 100 hands. Wow I think that''s the first time I've used someone's user name to help make a decision haha.

Interesting hand: I didn't 3bet the river because it doesn't make much sense for him to call the flop with Kx type hands. You can rule out Kxs hands because of the turn card. So he probably has K4 or KJ. Maybe something like KT as well. He's very passive so might not have raised the turn with two pair. Not sure if my thinking is right here.

Well yeah, I'm at around 34 at the moment. It kind of feels like I'm constantly getting exploited by the more aggressive players.

28th Aug: Fantabulous . . . No Limit Foray!?

So yeah. I've been having a bit of an enforced holiday from fixed limit. I didn't trust myself not to go on super monster tilt after having one of those LOL sessions.

Have been playing some NL in the meantime – 25FR and 10SH. I think I'm on a super upswing or something, or maybe micro limits are just this easy. Playing FL has really improved my post flop game, I actually understand reasons for betting now and can hand read to a certain extent.

Seriously dude, if you run like that at NL and can keep it up you will be considered as a NL god. 28 BB/100 over 4500 hands is crazy in itself.

Let me put it this way, Tom Dwan over his lifetime in cash runs at 7.8 BBs/100. Most pros run at 6ish/100.

Its a heater for sure, but if you can keep up a fraction of that at NL your game may be there and not FL.

I play NL10 FR at Stars too. Just for fun actually, but I make more money than on FL 2/4 SH ♦ Well, almost I am like 130$ up in about 6000 hands

I must say I like NL atm. I have so much bigger BR behind those 350$ with which I'm playing NL10, so I do not play with scared money, bluff a lot, resteal a lot, cont. bet (almost) every flop and it's working for now... And of course I make some silly min-raises, just to piss off some regulars ♦

30th Aug – 2nd Sep: Doom switch?!

Not really. I just wanted an excuse to post that pic. Still going ok at NL25 I guess. Should probably move up to NL50, but meh, the players are so much better there and I don't want to play with that much money yet.

I'm starting to miss the excitement of FL SH so might play some sessions over the next week. Seriously, in NL you get into a hard spot once every few thousand hands and can just fold – in FL SH every third hand is

I also played some NL25 6-max and it was pretty fail. I guess I'm breaking even, but I felt really uncomfortable on the tables and made some stupid mistakes. Yeah lets try and 4 bet bluff the nitty guy 3 betting my UTG raise. Or call a flop all in with a flush draw, just cos . . he raised my last cbet so he must be bluffing! Video watching time.

Interesting hand: I checked back the flop since calling a 3bet OOP usually indicates a strong range and I can't see many better hands that will fold. Worse hands like AQ, KQ ♦ might call, but they should be a small part of his range. River is a close call. It really looks like total air imo. Made hands would have bet the turn for value/protection. Really can't see him raising anything with a 3 in it from MP2 and then calling a 3-bet. 33 maybe, but it would have bet the turn a lot of the time. 78s is possible, but it's one hand and I'm not sure it's even in his range
