Hello fellow PokerStrategists!

Playing pocket pairs for value is one of the first things you learn when dealing with basic strategy. In the beginning, sets make up a considerable part of your winning rate.

Once you've hit your set, it feels like your luck has finally turned around. You have been waiting for ages and - naturally - you can't wait to get all your money in. This leaves a lot of room for beginner mistakes, though.

Being too passive and trying to trap your opponent every time you've finally hit this evasive hand on the flop is amongst the most common mistakes to be made. Slow-playing a set can be very fruitful in the right spot, though.

At the same time, being too impatient and aggressive at the wrong moment can mean that you lose substantial value and thus fail in achieving your goal of extracting maximum value.

Can you dodge the pitfalls when it comes to getting your opponents to pay the maximum for your sets?

Nice quiz, got 34/36, so looks like I can play my sets decently.

So i guess folding a set is almost always out of the question?

I'm not so sure that quiz was actually written for NL10 or I must be playing on way different sites than the author.

When fish take such strong lines, especially on the flop, they have much better ranges than the author gave in their answers. A lot of the answers assume the players are playing much stronger cards than they do in reality.

Also, what's up with the full stacks? Maybe the author meant NL100? ?(

This is awesome! I'm a FL player, I filled the test quickly and got 32/36 which is the best result ever for me. I'm not doing that well in FL quizes .

yeah i think it was the same for me.. :) i figured if there is ever a spot to fold the set... but no..

This is the second quiz I've done now and again I did quite poorly. 26 of 36. I found the explanations very helpful and I've started getting more value from my sets. Is there a place on the site where I can do the older quizes?

Thanks

I noticed that every time hero is in position, would the game changes when ur oop and how to play then uh? I get sets more times in oop than in ip and its hard for me to extract max value.
