Hand converted with online PokerStrategy.com hand converter:

Play hand

$0.5/$1 Fixed-Limit Hold'em (6 handed)

Preflop: Hero is BB with Q:s, J:d.
MP2 calls, 3 folds, SB calls, Hero checks.

Flop: (3 SB) 5:s, 8:s, 6:s (3 players)
SB checks, Hero ??

I like to bet out here for some instant fold equity against Ax and Kx without the FD.

Bet is mainly for value, you got FD nad overcards. They could easily connect with this board as they have both limped. Gain value from their draws. If they show aggression you got very low FE and I will continue to play it passive until I hit.

yes. i would bet too for - as your said - instant foldequity. :) i assume that sb would have bet with any pair and mp2 has to fold Kx and Ax without a flushdraw.
