Bet or slowplay?
It is a must contibet. First and the most important reason to bet here is balancing. If you check on this dry board, it looks really weird. You should usually contibet 100% in heads-up pots, so if you check with monsters, you also have to sometimes check with trash to keep it balanced, but that's unprofitable.
Second reason is that you want value from him. If he has something like Q9, he will call 1 bet on the flop, but will maybe check/fold the turn if he doesn't hit. Also, as I said, check looks much stronger than a bet on this board. If you bet, he gives you less credit and is more likely to try a bluff checkraise.

yes! check looks like a -high or a monster and opponents who ain't that dumb rather checkraise the flop as a bluff than betting the turn with nothing on a blank. but the most important arguement is that you don't get any value out of your hand by checking.
