Hello everybody,

This is a hand on the initial phase of a deep stacks tournament of 11$ on pokerstars.

I had AK and hited the K on the flop, i have no special read on the oponents as the tournament was on the begining. Although I kinda suspected that one of the oponents could have hit a set, I pushed all-in.

My question is, should i learn to lay down top split pairs on multyway pots on initial phase of tournaments if someone shows a lot of strength (specialy on deep stacks tournaments)?

Thank you very much for your help.

Greetings,

Cbet less, 600 is fine or u can just check behind for pot control cos there are not may cards that can hurt u on turn

with that action on flop and u having A  is very likely that ur TPTK is not good there, in best scenario u r vs monster draw 5 :heart:6

p.s. please dont post results, and it will be nice if ur HH goes something like this

Preflop: Hero is CO with A  , K :spade:
UTG2 calls, 3 fold,
MP3 raises 60 to 90,
Hero raises 180 to 270, BU calls, SB calls, 2 fold, MP3 calls

Flop: (1140) K , 4 , 3 :club: (4 Players)
SB checks, MP3 checks,Hero bets 800,BU raises 820 to 1620, SB calls, MP3 folds,Hero ?????????

we are playing a $11 tourney.. poster above is giving our opponents way too much credit lol

preflop looks good..

flop cbet around 600-700 would be standard...

And we are going broke on this flop with a smile

i think u r underestimate 11$ MTT players, if we r looking at this with your eyes is very likely that SB or BTN for ex has K4s,K3s,43 as it is likely they have KQ,KJ or flush draw and they are playing for stacks with those hands, cos after all this is 11$ MTT, no ?(

i'm not sure about that smile part with that action after us no flop,
but sure u can close u r eyes and put ur stack in and hope for best that villains are over playing weaker hands then yours and they will miss their draws, is early in MTT u dint invest much time so u will get huge stack or busted but when u shove and got called i cant tell u that u arent ahead very often

Tks for your opinions.

There are many good players on this specific tournament, it is a deepstacks torunament where each player starts with 5.000 chips and blind levels last 30 minutes, where the BB goes as 20, 30, 50, 100, 150, 200... Usualy ITM comes only after 5,5h of tournament and it last about 14h till there is a winner. I think that this kind of tournament structure favours more a carefull play style than crazy all-ins.

And looking as how the hand was played by all players specialy the SB chek-call of 2 big raises in the flop should fire up all alarms... In fact it did when i was playing the hand, but after thinking for a while i thought that I was already pot comited (when i wasnt, still had 3850 chips), and thought to my self "maybe its some donk with only a flush draw" and made what i would consider as a donk push on that situation.

Tks also for the hints about how to post the hand, it makes sense to post it like you sugested.

About the size of the c-bet I made it the standard 2/3 of the pot (800) to defend from possible flush draw.

preflop
I prefer to just coldcall AK IP, but with this low blinds, its better to 3bet it

flop
against 3 guys, we dont have nutz
contibet 666 is good
after 2 guys shown action ... its depends on reads
after evaluate ur reads ... u should push or fold ur Hand
