[Closed] Rank poker games in order of skill required to be a successful winning player

if i was you i would stick to the popular NL games or PLO and stay away from games like draw and razz because those could die any day now

NL HU is one the hardest variants imo so quite a lot of skill required

NL 6 max would be my choice

Lol. Well all poker games share a mathematic background. That means you need comparatively about the same skill or whatever. However some have something extra.

What you're asking is incredibly hard to answer and the question is way to vague.

I'm not going to squeeze my brain for an answer but rather let you figure it out. What you need to know is this: the more information a game reveals the easier it is. The less information it reveals the more complex it gets and you need more "skill for it".

For example Razz is pretty simple since you know a lot about your opponent, especially at the beggining, while Omaha is not since you have less information about your opponent, 5 card draw is even harder because you know even less (in Omaha at least you know 3 of his cards from the board).

Hold'em is right in the middle, easy enough but with enough room for skill, that's why it's so popular.

Diffrent varriants require diffrent skills. Just because your bad at one good at another, doesnt mean you have to be more or less skillfull. A good FR player may never be a good HU player and vice versa.

I agree with what somone else said though, forget about the old school games, stick to hold'em and/or omaha.

my definition : to be a successful winning player so to play a game where you profit at the expense of other people's mistakes.

Games where they have the most room to make the non optimum choice

so some games you might make the best decisions and be the best player , but if no one else plays them , then there is no one for you to exploit.

not many people plays the games beyond HE / omaha and in huge volumes.

So any comparison would really be what we think and not what is

NLHE 9-man SnG skill > everything!!!!!!!!!!!

Sngs are pretty easy to play once u know the theory well and practice icm. Combine that with high rake and you get a game that's almost unbeatable at high stakes. Problem with them is that you can play optimally, i don't think cash games have something like it. But sng bubble factors are rather hard to learn...

Am I right saying that you can obtain a bigger edge in these games:

HU PL Omaha
NL Omaha H/L 9 Handed

then in these:

HU NL Hold’em
NL 6 Max
Limit Hold’em 10 handed

and in these (the most predictable as you can see many cards)?:

Razz- 8 handed
7 Stud 8 handed
2-7 NL Single Draw 6 handed
Stud H/L 8 handed

Do you guys think HU are easier to master then 9-handed games, or viceversa?

But seriously though..

HU is in my opinion alot more difficult to master. Fixed Limit by the way is 100% math. I can't really tell you about other variants then No limit holdem. But holdem is the most popular and has the most good player from my personal experience.

So imo NL Holdem and Omaha are the hardest to beat probably.. the other variants are alot less popular so less skilled players.. But i haven't played anything other then NL holdem seriously so i can't really tell. But i'd agree that there is easier money in Omaha then in Hold'em if your skill in both those games is equal.

(note that i don't really have much knowledge about the other games.. So i can't really give good advice on this subject.. But this is mostly general stuff)
