i like to watch Caps the most ofc for their offense, but team i cheer for are Bruins in the East and Blues in the West esp coz both of these teams rly have no offensive superstar, they are forced to work as a team more compactly, usually win very close games with low scoring and Slovaks Zdeno Chara and Jaro Halak respectively have a mamuth impact whether they make playoffs or not. I rly wish Blues can make it far this year, after such a poor last season the management went for some upcoming youngesters with heart, yet they rly are just so extremely unexperienced, would be interesting to watch how they cope with under-pressure situations.

I think you set your goals too high within the following areas.

:club: EVERY SINGLE day 1h of analysis to my notebook. On mondays and tuesdays more. Never skip any day. Christmas, Silvester or any holiday, or bday party no exceptions-after i get sober, first thing: review those 3-5hands and write down the ranges and kick the ass to think through the balancing (i ve started to analyse quite a lot few weeks ago, even though i havent done it every day, i average that 1h/day and i feel extremely confident now and extramotivated to work on my game each day even more.

lifestyle:

 every morning stretch

 eat continuously healthy, never eat in McDonals or KFC, never any junk. Get drunk at most 1x/month on a special occasion.

 never go to sleep later than 6AM for no good reason. If dont feel sleepy-> get a pill instantly to not ruin my schedules.

The second you feel a blip of illness or tiredness after a long heads-up session vs fish etc. etc. these sort of goals will slip up.

My advice would be to take off atleast 3 of these goals and for the other 1/2 get some prop-bet action from a friend to help get the success rate up.

Wish you much luck over the course of the year.

deffo a shortrun very good motivator, but longrun doubt beneficial. 1, one cannot do so many probbets on everything, its just too much of a mess 2, if the bets are anyhow interesting person loses the excitement of pure understanding for the immediaton money satisfaction, and if they are not interesting they wont matter anyway. i ll try to just stick to the plan no matter what and stay positive. I ll deffo feel weak many times, but i think i have already some options of how to relieve stress so i hope to do ok.

@all: wow! today i found out a superinteresting thing from HEM: HEM measures the length of a session u play as a tiem of 1st hand started from the time u started autoimporting to the time of last hand finished. Also: if u quit a table too quick, the last hand couldnt be imported and then it sometimes happens that ur session is being couted as continuos even if u stopped the autoimport and started again. Today i ve played 3 sessions and forgot to swithc it off in between a 2h break and then another 1h break and it showed 1 long one. Also did few experiments later with it, by starting it, playin 1 hand, stopping, and after 10mins playing other hands - sure thing the session was 10min long.- sad thing tho is that the 1st hand i repushed a bit too light BvsB and lost whole stack :(

So thhe calculated time played in HEM is totally off. damn! so my alleged 100h/month which it shows i was putting is maybe like 70, now this is weird, i must be stopping hem and quitting the hem after each sesion to get the precise hourcount?!

Use a time tracking software to exactly monitor your time use
(I use http://www.toggl.com/ for tracking my sessions and studying etc),
coz I also noticed that HEM fucks up with the session lengths.

thx for the tip StaticMoth, will try it out.

other news: funny days of buying presents and arguing with shop assistants to come. part 1 already behind me.

just 1 excerpt, wich rly made me laugh loud in the shop right after:

so i enter my final shop of the day and since i didnt find the courage to ask abt 1 thing in my fist shop, (but did considerable progress for the 2nd one, to where i even returned after i forgot to buy 1 other thing! - sick!) now i started to learn by heart my speech of asking for the thing. However, suddenly i meet a friend of mine and..

she insta greets me: "hey! how are u doing?"

.. omg, i think to myself, what a silly offtipic question, and actually, i was srsly not ready to answer such question, so i just in confusion looked into the ground, searching for some escape tunel or sth (like in supermario where u just dive into the tunel) and then this came out of me:

"Well, how am i? I..I..I..I dont rly know. (I rly didnt want to tell her that i was thinking abt what to tell a shopassistant and also abt some poker hands from the weekend) How are u? I havent seen u for a long time.."

:) well, maybe it doesnt seem so weird atm anymore but honestly, when was the last time somebody answered ur most trivial question by pondering for 10seconds and then answering: I dont know. .. ? yea.. on form of my social life :f_confused:

TLN just like gym question here you got a personal trainer and what not but what are your goals and what does he have you doing?

You see it all the time personal trainers either push what their into/good at or pick a program that people will enjoy/stick with depending on the person.
Got a serious case of the "curiosity" while reading the blog.

P.S.: If you wrote that I am going from Czech Republic it seems that I am going through half of Europe to meet you ;). It's just 120km or something... closer for me than to Prague (that is actually our coutry capital).

Hello, TLN!
Just my 2 cents on the personal gym trainer:
:diamond: this doesn't make any sense for a gym beginner.
Why?
Because as a complete beginner I can give you a training scheme to work with for at least 6 months and no trainer, I am sure on that, can argue it's a bad scheme.

Personal trainers come in handy if you are:
a. a horny slut whose husband neglects
b. advanced user and the things you know can't help you complete your goals anymore and you need a tweak in the diet mostly and not in the training.

As a start, here are some guidelines:
:diamond: 3 times in a week is impossible for a beginner.
:diamond: first month you'll want to do 1 time/week and maybe 2 times last week. If you train intensive enough you are going to be OK for the next training in like a week.
:diamond: you start with the most basic moves. Like bench pressing for chest and nothing more. Like barbell curls for biceps and nothing more. Like shoulder press and nothing more, etc.
:diamond: as a beginner I think it's best to train the whole body in one very intensive session, not more than an hour long.
:diamond: you do one exercise per muscle group, 4 series of 8 repetitions each.
A typical session would consist of the following:
:diamond: chest exercise
:diamond: back exercise
you can switch these two
:diamond: legs exercise
:diamond: arms - biceps/triceps
:diamond: shoulder
Abdominal muscles you should train when you do your running.
That's that for the first six months.
Combine that with a diet of your choice - for muscle gain or for a fat loss and you're set up. :)

Whats up with 3 times a week as a beginner? I started going to the gym 2months ago and I go 3 times a week, on occasion 4 times, depends on mood and how physically strong I feel, for example if I didn't put in a big session in the 3 sessions im happy to do a 4th session. Generally I run every session and then work on specific groups on specific days, so I am never overdoing one area. I find this fine as a beginner, I mean I wouldn't goto the gym if I didn't want to push myself? Imo someone like TLN should goto the gym 3 times a week, he clearly has a sick mindset/focus/determination/discipline, else he wouldn't have achieved what he achieved at poker. Perhaps there are many routines without personal trainer that would benefit him, but he can afford a personal trainer and if he feels its good motivator, or atleast +EV in someway for his gym sessions then he should get one right?

So clearly you are not doing something right because if you do a good session you should be sore for at least 3-4 days.

See this is an advanced builder approach - the splitting of the muscle groups. Beginners should do all big muscle groups in one intensive session, not more than an hour long with short breaks between exercises - 90 seconds between series of the chest/back/legs and like 45 seconds between small muscle groups like arms and shoulder. When you do this for like 5-6 months you can begin splitting muscle groups.

Of course, everyone is free to do what he wishes.

You only get sore the first month or something, as your body adjust you no longer get sore after sessions.

mishkagg: what are you saying is a complete nonsense. Study the problematics and read something other than this bullshit that:

a, can work to make progress
b, damages ur body
c, up to u what u chose.

As for a personal trainer: it's the begginer who needs this. And everyone who goes to gym for the first time and starts bench pressing is a complete donk. (you can put there any other excercice you mentioned)

This is just my one cent. But it's worth more than ur 2 cents.

PS: if this post seems arrongant to you, it was not to meant. But I could not express myself in other way.

EDIT: BENCH PRESS is not a basic move and I doubt you can do it properly.
