Congrats on both your nice comeback after withdrawal and also for shipping a milestone!!

I also watched the whole series of Pink Performance, and it's definitely a decent watch and helped me add a few things to my game.

Thanks, mate.

Last days, maybe it's already weeks, when my volume in learning poker really sucks. When I run good I stop learning and I get back to articles, books and videos only when a downswing starts. That's one of my leaks.

I've watched only 2 parts of those series and now I'm on a downswing, so it's the right time to start learning again

Ok, so I cancel all those money related goals and challenges and it's time to start learning this game again.

Again cashed out and left 625$ in my cashier(25BI at NL25).

It's not the secret that I have a lot leaks in my game, so somehow I have to fix them.

Many of them are related to my mindset.

For example playing poker when I know that I'm not in a good mood and I'm sure that I will loose, but I still play, because I don't have anything else to do. Maybe anyone of you have the same problem or had it before? How did you fight with this?

Hate to be captain obvious, but just find something else to do. :f_biggrin: I used to do that too back in a day, because I didn't want to feel like a slacker. (also playing poker every free hour you have quickly makes it boring and you start losing motivation IMO)

As for how to overcome this,, seeing my biggest losing sessions and knowing that all of those could've been avoided did a pretty good job at convincing me that it may be better to be a slacker and have more money, than be a grinder with less money. :f_biggrin:

So you may try to start writing down all your results from such sessions because seeing the actual numbers should convince your mind faster than just knowing that you lose "something".

Alternatively you could for example move down a stake or two and do your best to play simple ABC trying to avoid various spew calls/bluffs etc. Firstly you'd be training your autopiloting discipline and secondly, obv beating lower stakes is easier so even if you aren't in the mood you are still likely to be +ev, and +1$/hour is better than 0$/hour, and surely much better than -50$/hour. :f_biggrin:

Well, I got my Diablo 3 Beta key 4 days ago, so when I'm not feeling good about playing poker, you can guess what I do hoho

On a more serious note, as you probably figured yourself out, you have to find something else to do. And it doesn't necessarily have to be poker related (maybe even better if it's not), and do that when you don't feel like playing.

I have several things I do: sports (running, excercise), going on a coffee + reading newspapers, D3, do something around the house,...

Just make sure you don't do it too often. Well basically, if you're feeling like not playing poker a lot, that is also a "leak" and you should work on that (meaning on things, that will make you motivated to play & keep you in shape pokerwise).

Though I would point out one thing I saw when reading your blog. I saw you're having problems when doing good profit-wise, and you just feel like stop playing. By that you probably don't get any decent volume in on days like that? Anyway, I have exactly the same problem, and if you by any chance find a solution, or anything that would help you battling that, I would really appreciate it if you'd share that with us :)

Otherwise, nice blog, I'll be sure to checking it on a regular basis, and I wish you the very best of luck sir!

Kind Regards,

Jkob.

Hey, thanks for replies Jkob and NightFrostaSS, I found them really helpful and it's also good to know that I'm not alone in a such spot.

But it's pretty funny that people, this time it's me, ask questions in which they know the answer. For example, if you ask your friend, which is not a poker player, how to not play poker when you don't want to do this, he would simply say just don't play, but for us it seems it's much harder than it looks like

About poker.

My game is still not in a good shape, I think I need several +10BI sessions and my mindset will recover Since cashout played 5k hands at NL25, and down 1.5BI. Hope soon I will get back to the crushing mood :f_cool:

I swear those creatures exist for real

Hey I'm a little late but I will follow this blog

I've been trying to beat NL4 SH with no success... Seeing how good you are doing motivates me to keep studying and crush the NL5 SH on stars when I transfer from partypoker!

See you in the bahamas

@suitedaces1701 - NL2 to NL10 is easy, if you have DB with HUD and know what preflop starting hand chart and continuation bet are, you should easily beat these limits. GL, see ya there! :)

@TilTmuch - If I ask for 10, then 5 comes automatically and if I ask 5 then I run about 0, so 10 is fine

Today got surprising gift from pokerstrategy staff. It was a card with best wishes for the holiday season and a bar of chocolate. It has cheered me up, thank you! :)

I know what continuation bet is, but I didn't know when to slow down a bit :)

@suitedaces1701 - Just don't bluff at those small stakes too much. Remember this - Big hand Big pot, Weak hand small pot, because people don't pay attention to your game, so your don't need to balance at all.

@Wriggers - feels good yeah?

Thanks for the tips just one last question, when you were playing NL2-NL10, were you raising 3xBB or 4xBB pre-flop?

And congrats on that graph!

ATM reading +++Q&A with Jared Tendler!!+++ and so far found several great ideas, now I'm considering of buying Jared's book(The Mental Game of Poker), because my mental game is pretty poor and it could be a +EV move.

Have anybody read that book? What's your thoughts about it? :)

Just played a session, and I'm really happy with my game again. After reading that mental game thread, my mind worked somehow different. For example, when I got outdrawn on the river, it wasn't "luckbox bla bla bla", but it was "have I really done the best I could in this hand?". And in whole session I haven't checked the results at all. I wish that I could maintain such shape everytime, then I just need to work on my poker skills and I would crush CG tables for sure :)

Here is graph :f_cool:
