NL5~NL10 zoom i suppose?
i plan to move my roll to stars somewhere next month, then i'll probably be zooming one of these limits. see you at the tables

I'm still playing NL5 ZOOM.

So yeah it was around a $30 pot I had an 80% chance at winning and I lost it.

Oh well, I have battled back and won $10 today so far.

And nice, my dream is to make it to NL 25 someday.

My bankroll at Pokerstars is like $137 now from starting at $100 two days ago. Zoom poker feels fairly soft and I have had a few interesting hands I should find and post here. One, I stacked a guy who tried bluffing into my full house with Q high and he had virtually no draws lol.

You'll find that allot.. esp when you move to NL25.. bluff catching is such a good skill to have..

Although this is obvious to most people, I've not put it into use until around about now.. but cbetting 90% of flops = profitable so much..

As i showed you my graph on skype the other day.. im up around $150 from Non-showdown winnnigs and $250 from showdown.. so that red line really helps between winning and winnning big

Obviously need to be in the right spots, and not all flops will be a good cbet.. but allot of bet/folds are good.. This is also good for when actiing last as can flip it and 3bet for an easy fold from opponent.

Lost a set over set hand and KK vs AA last night in back to back hands to drop 2 BI's. I quit for the night at that point. Kind of sucked but it's ok. I'm happy with my play right now.

However, today I played in all Ontario badminton and won some games but got put out by this one team we had to play twice. They were very skilled; kudos to them!

I think I have a lot of homework and whatnot to do tonight so I'm not sure If I will have time to put in a grind. I'll probably still throw down 1k hands at NL 5 Zoom just cause I love it so much!

Yeah I did get them in good haha...opponents just held the wrong cards =P

On another note, I am GOLD status now hehe ♦

Won back the money I lost from those variance hands earlier so my BR is about the same. Yay. Now I have to get reading those gold articles and watching the videos as well.

I really want to learn to play some more SH but I don't seem to be very good at it. Does anyone have some recommendations about what videos are good to watch etc and what not? It seems so much fun but I got crushed the only time I tried it. Fullring seems easier because it's nittier and easier to put people on ranges.

i feel that in SH the regs overall play much better postflop. even fish are more aggressive
more edge in FR i'd say, maybe it's just everest but i think the regs prefer SH games by far

as you may know i've been working on my SH game quite a lot and all that to achieve... what looks like the same winrate from FR? need way more sample though
still i think playing lots of SH has done a lot of good things to my game. i'm probably going back to FR when i move to zoom so let's see how it goes, i expect some nice improvement

Yeah I think my postflop game is far too basic at this point. It is strong and sound and doesn't spew too many chips but I also think I'm missing some value floats etc. I find when I incorporate those into my game at NL 5 fullring it is just a losing proposition as:
#1 Fish can't find folds and

#2 They like to barrel lots.

maybe you are not picking your spots well.

in general i'd just say things like... pay attention to cbet/turncbet stats, float good boards in position (ie Axx 2suited is great, if they don't second barrel they almost never have it) and don't try too hard to barrel loosepassive fish, if you are OOP you may want to skip the flop cbet even in boards you'd usually do it vs others.

cbet 99% of flops and watch your red graph build mountains.

Had a late night grind session last night that was quite profitable. I played really well and made some good calls in river situations.

My thinking is that on flop and turn I am raising for value against worse Ax and two pair type hands. River is super ugly so I block bet as he would reshove any Jx.

This absolutely crushed me at the start of the day. I was so upset and had to quit as I went on super tilt. I came back later today and really tightened up and played straight forward against these fish. I usually start losing when I try to play witty or intelligent and bluff. I have to remember that fish aren't capable of making big lay downs etc.

Anyways, the day ended up positive and I'm pleased with my play I suppose. I really want to get to NL25 where I can actually make smart plays and be rewarded.

For those struggling with NL2/4/5 I recommend:

#1 Tightening up your range- These fish don't even notice anyways so don't worry about your image at such a low stake.

#2- Knowing when to fold. If a calling station all of a sudden starts to be aggressive you have to know your top pair is garbage most of the time.

#3- Don't try elaborate moves. Most players at this limit are not smart enough to realize what you're representing anyways, so bluffs won't work when you expect they should know to fold.

#4- Value bet all day long. Fish call down pretty lightly.

#5- Don't worry about balancing. Nobody is paying enough attention at these limits anyways. My biggest mistake is when I try to get too fancy.

Follow these tips and you will start to crush NL 5 and under!

nice advice to the struggling nl5 players flash. ive never seen you play too many hands at these tables between my fast folds and regular folds. i think i redifined my range though and am ready to move forward, rather then backward.

Another tip I find is when stealing on someone with 10 vpip you have to realize at the TIME just the action of stealing with 3BB raise is profitable. After that, you can give up entirely unless you hit something big and be making money by doing that move in the long run. Where I got into trouble sometimes, was when I continued against such an opponent with my weak steal holdings and their range was WAY ahead of mine. Keep this in mind:

-Once a move that was profitable fails, you can give up knowing you're still making money in the long run. Just because the plan didn't work out doesn't mean you need to get real creative with it.

Bankroll is at $166 now. I am thinking about taking shots at NL10. Perhaps at $200. What do you guys think? Is it a big jump to NL 10 or not so much?

As I saw I had hit the full house on the flop I was thinking whether or not to slow play or just start making big bets as we were so deep. When he open shoved into the pot I insta called (obviously) and then went oh my GOD he better not have pocket 7s. Then I hit quads and felt pretty confident and he flips ATc and I just start laughing uncontrollably. Fantastic play sir!

As you can see I played very straight forward. Even though I knew the strategies then, I was really trying to perfect my game and make it solid. Now I have a better understanding of how to win at NL5 zoom.

Here is my graph for the first 2 days of May. It is a nice heater combined with strong play on my part (in my opinion anyways).

This is as much winnings as I made all of April. I'm really pleased with my play and I find I am just preying on their mistakes rather than get into marginal spots. Although I have picked my c-bet spots and check raise (as a bluff) spots better to improve my non-showdown winnings significantly.

Current bankroll going into May:

I can't even believe this hand.

Preflop- I value raise with my strong AK

Flop- I bet with a gutshot and two over cards. He can call with a weaker ace even or I might hit the gutshot. I call his min 3bet because we are SO deep and now it's starting to look like KK or AA as he limp called from early position.

Turn- I just check behind continuing my plan of hitting the gutter being so deep. Also, I think he is trying to bluff induce or I might have his weaker A beat already. If I hit an A or K or the river I still only check behind or sometimes make a thin value bet.

River- I know he is trying to slow play some type of very strong hand and just shove because I have a good feeling he will call.

Tell me if I played this wrong. I have found that over betting on scary boards when I have the nuts has been extremely profitable. Most fish don't know how light to stack off, especially when deep like this.

Here's another example of how over betting has made me some money This one is extremely unlucky for him. The flush hit so I put him either on that or trips and figured he makes a call if he holds either and folds just about anything else. Also, the small flop bet is because the other player was a massive fish but didn't often call larger sized bets. I almost felt bad....

I might take a shot at NL 10 soon or just keep crushing NL 5 till around $300. I feel comfortable right now with my game at NL 5 so it may be wise to pad my roll there first.

I played some NL 5 SH Zoom today and made $20.

Bankroll is $272 now and I loooooove SH now that my postflop skills have gotten a bit better. So much fun and less nitty

At $300 bankroll I want to move to NL 10 SH

I also want to start playing some tournies again soon for a $1.50 buy in to get my feet wet. I really enjoy those as well.
