it would've been much better if you checked the river if you want to catch his bluffs.
a check on the river after check raising turn looks much weaker, so he is more likely to be firing a big bluff on the river if we check, and we minimize the damage in case we ware wrong, because to be honest, most of the times here, we will see a 4, 22 or even AT+.. maybe you have some reads on the guy, or he is just a maniac but still, it would be much better to check the river.
nice hand though, catching a big bluff every now and then can only be good to your table image and to your game overall 
I agree with you about the river USUALLY. But the bet on the river was for thin value, and i wanted calls from all his underpairs. He was playing agressive post flop and might even induce a bluff, case and point. He was a postflop maniac. When he raised that big I looked at his river bet % and it was 6/8 thru ~125 hands. If he was raising me for value it wouldve been smaller or all in. As soon as he makes this big of a raise i guessed that he didnt want to showdown his junky hand, and needed to be leveled, although leveling people at nl5 is unnecessary, if you have a read on your opponent, try it despite what other people might say when you post the hand.
Also, playing 2 tables helped to see EXACTLY how to play against the players at the table.
