January 2011 - Week 3 Review

Like a fish. Haven't put much volume also, only played to not compromise IronMan status this month.

It seems that now I tilt more easily, this is why the small volume - I play lose a litle and my game deteriorates... but I've also seen so many bad beats and the cards are so cold, it's nuts if I go all in with 80% eq it feels like 50/50, also my (monster)draws don't seem to ever hit & villains hit 4-8 outs like crazy.

It may be variance here, but I can't control that, the only thing that I can do is work on myself.

Just today I observed myself wishing for a suckout in a QQvsAA hand... something that before I would never do, I would have just accepted that I put my money behind and let it at that and learn from what I did. This is a mistake. One of my recent faults is that I'm focusing on the money to much.

Now I want to LET IT GO... and only Play For Fun & IMPROVEMENT.

I want to/will regain my strength ♠_cool:

Btw, for February I have a special challenge for me (poker related), I don't want to talk about it because I want it to have a more intrinsic value. I will give you just a TIP: It will include monstrous volume.

I forgot to say, last week (the one above) I've lost for the third time AA vs AA all in preflop. The amusing thing was that when I saw villain holding AA my first thought was "haha, my first time to win AA vs AA all in preflop has come".

Also just now, I've lost an all in preflop with AKo vs AKo.

Thanks! It's all a long session, this is just a minor setback in the journey towards my final goals. I'm gonna crush it soon.

I'm reading your post and seeing myself/remembering myself telling these things to myself .. Play for fun and enjoy every hand you play, every decision you make, every suckout you receive( opponents suckouts is+EV, it's so fun). By enjoying these little things and having better skill & mindset than others is a key. Yup sometimes we must be strict to oursefls, self-critical, but this is other side of the medal. Balance is everything.

I've started February pretty well.

Also, on 1st of February I participated in the first tournament from the Romanian PokerStrategy League, on PokerStars.

I finished 3rd, the highest place I've reached in tournament. (Player-pool, 98 entrants.) With that I've gained 21 points for the series and won $17 (not the biggest cash).

Tournaments are entertaining.

Besides that, I made a calculation and I'm have left to play around of 21K hands to release the $500 bonus, piece of cake

If my BR is 1k or higher when the $500 will be in my account, NL50 beware ♠_biggrin:

Incredible call, or is it?

Villan had 8.7 3bet% and didn't fold blinds often. But he had 18/16 (vpip/pfr) so he probably plays ok.

I 4bet him and he calls oop. Than when he donks on the flop on the A high board I know that he doesn't have an Ace because he would never do that with one, so I think a bit and shove.

If I never shove an Ace on the flop, then the call makes sense.

When I c/r the flop I decided that I will barrel 3 streets if he calls. I doubt that villain would cbet JJ on the flop, it's imporbable to have a monster so he stands with a marginal hand with which he can't call 3 streets. My line looks like pure value.

I was just thinking about the hand, what makes you think he wouldnt cbet his JJ there? Do you have any more reads? I used to pull out such moves a lot when i was trying to loosen up and play more aggro but im not sure about the ev of such move without some 2nd plan in form of equity.

Villain looked like an ok reg, tag, no special history with him, so I think he would play like most players would play JJ there, check behind to give the opponent a chance to catch something. If he bets the flop with top set what can I call with? Not much, he will probably lose value. I'm not bluffing 100%. Against a smaller set on the flop he will get it in anyways on the turn or river.

That's my line of thinking on this.

I agree. Having some equity makes it a a lot more better. I'm not sure how this stands in terms of EV, depends on where do you start the calculation (the flop or turn&river) But I think it's profitable long term, if you don't overuse it.

Changing Platforms

I'm thinking on changing platforms. I'm gonna go with EuroPoker (ongame). I will have a nice 1200$ bonus and from what I've read + 40% rakeback (by exchanging Player Points for bonuses)

I made the final leap to SH. I'm playing normal tables, it's so nice to have the same players at the table =), to know the fishes and to take their money.

NL10 SH is the game that I'm playing now. With my BR I could play NL25 without a sweat, but I prefer playing NL10 for now. I want to win around 200$ at NL10 then I will move to the next limit.

The only question mark in my mind is this: Should I wait till March to move my BR? In March the norms for the new legislation will be public (from what I know). FullTiltPoker is a big platform with integrity, so here I think that my BR is safer. Should I wait? Do I have anything to worry about?

With Full Tilt and Stars you kinda have a guarantee they will buy the online gaming license and you probably won't even feel a dfiference when things change. I say wait and decide afterwards.

You risk a lot if you move and you win nothing special. You can move later whithout any risk
