Rumours of my death has been highly exaggerated. I am still around and playing.
I ended up with a very good month live. This is mostly thanks to the Wednesday freeroll tourneys where I cashed 4/5 so far.
Cash still going strong with the very notable exception of last Friday night where my AK ran into AA on an AKx board and my 92s, in a blind vs blind and 722 board, ran into Q2. Two stacks down and I went home.
Online I have not been playing much and when I did only whiles watching TV so been splashing around in the lower stakes.
Getting back to the tendencies of gamblers.
These freerolls have tought me a gambler would rather take 200:1 odds playing for $2000 and paying $10 than take 20:1 odds playing for $400 and playing for free simply "because there is more value". The fact is that I have been making just over $500 per night in these "unpopular" tournies.
This is important to remember because when these players have SD or OESD it is important to bet flop and turn and bet big.
Had a dry week.
Played very bad wednessday and did not cash. Ran TT<AA twice.
Last night we had bounty. Ended 8/50 with 6 players cashing. Played well but last few levels was a bit cold. Got AK and run into AKs who floped FD but lucky for me did not get there. Then got a meduim stack to put it all in against my QQ just to see QQ also... 
I started the final table as 5th bigest stack or as an avg stack depending on how u look at it with about 18BB. Second orbit and MP openships with just over 7 BB. I have AKo and isolate. He shows JJ. Flop KJ6 giving him set but giving me flush draw that does not get there. Few hands later I am BB with one limper (MP) and SB that completes. I look down to JJ and raise to 6 BB. MP ships. I call. He shows QQ. gg.
In celebration of the return of our esteemed leader of the Zimmers I thought I could post something she would appreciate more than my old poker ramblings.
Two weeks ago Tyrone got the assignment from scouts that he should get a pet and take care of it for a month. That meant that we had to get a pet for Tyrone and Meghan. Fiona thought it was a good idea to get them each a gold fish.
So that Sunday we duly went and bought the "starter pack" (read bowl and food ect) and two fish for the fish. After some deliberation the fish was given the names of "goldie" and "black-fin" (my suggestion of "shi" and "su" was not to be accepted).
For one week our household was all about the new fish until the inevitable happened. Friday Tyrone came home to find "black – fin" with the fin pointing to the wrong direction. He was inconsolable. By Friday night it was clear that "goldie" was going to join him and by Saturday night "goldie" was no more. Again I had a crying child with a broken hart.
So the next day and we went back to find out what went wrong. We were told well these fish generally do not live long in these bowls for this reason and that. Long story short and we buy another "starter pack" (read tank, pump, food ect) and two new fish. This time Tyrone and Megan needed to be prompted to give the fish names. Two days later and I regretted it.
In the end, and by that I mean 6 fish later and after testing the water and consulting the "experts", I simply gave up. I guess that no fish can survive in my proximity.
Well I guess what I want to say is that I take my hat off to anyone that puts so much effort into and successfully work with bees.

I got lucky last night and won the NLHE tourney at the Zimmers.
Some lockbox, who will remain nameless because of admin powers, rushed to an early lead and just before the brake had more than 60% of all the chips in play. I on the other hand remembered the story of the Porsche and the Micra and went on my steady way. We got to heads up where my acute live skills paid off after he shipped and said that he wanted to go to bed. I read the tell and knew he was weak so I called with my monster A3s. I guess he, unlike me, did not know the flop was going to be A32 and that is why he shipped with only ATo.
Well being a foreigner the price money is a bit more valuable and I will be taking the Mrs this afternoon to go and order a new car.

Saw the worse case of bumhunting in my life.
Playing on the 10/25 table there was a whale raising every hand and we had seen some big pots. We saw one pot of 25 000 (ZAR) which is exactly 1000BB.
At 8pm the casino opened the 25/50 table. Four people went and booked seats but when the whale went to book he declared that some1 had booked the seat he wanted and came back to our table. The player that had booked the seat came back to our table and publicly apologized and offered to change seats. The next hand is dealt and I am in the BB. During the hand the whale stood up and moved to the 25/50 table. By the time my hand was finish the 25/50 table filled up and there was no space for me . This left me and 2 other players alone on the table. Yes in the time it took me to play a hand the whole table moved from my table to the 25/50 table just because the whale went.

Normal week.
Played wednessday night tourney and came 2nd. Only problem was that we finished 3h15 AM! (That after getting up at 6h15 and working a full day). Went home and was up at 6h15 again. By thursday evening I was dead on my feet. Yes poker is such a easy life.
Played friday night again and was just more than 1 BI up came midnight so I went home.
For some reason I felt tired the weekend and was not in a good mood. Naturally Fiona wanted to go visit her sister to show off the new car and we had to take the two hour trip. I had to drive. It is a fact not known to all but "Dada" is a four letter word. If you dont believe me you can take my 2 children tell them they going to go visit their aunt and put them in a car.

Guess that 2gb chess game of Tyrone was a bit much.
Tbh I need the break from online chess and poker and 2 days away will do me good.
I have to play live tonight I cannot afford not to, I just booked our december holiday.

I had the strangest meeting this morning. I went to a pre-trial meeting for a matter that is setdown for 3 days in the High Court of Mthatha to be heard next year. At the end of the pre-trial I asked the opposing legal team if they had ever been to this court as it is somewhat "off the beaten track". They answered in the affirmative upon which I enquired where the best place would be to stay.
The answer was that the only real place to stay would be http://www.tsogosunhotels.com/garden-court/mthatha/pages/overview.aspx upon which the one Attorney informed us that the hotel is in fact a casino and when they were there last they played a lot of poker in the casino.
IMAGINE THIS: playing live poker against opposing legal team and then appearing in court against them the next day! Just think if we bet they call and we show the nuts. Next day we go to court and tell them we some surprise witness that destroys their case. Will they believe us? Or alternatively we bet they fold and we show a bluff. Next day we tell them that we believe we have no case and just going through the motions. Will they believe us?
Will have to think about what is MAX EV.
