:diamond:@MissClick ty  They even better when they sing in Afrikaans. Fiona is scottish and you can hear it when they talk/sing afrikaans (naturally you need to be afrikaans to understand)

I had a very interesting session last night.

The Low:

I bought in 50bb and play a few hands and was up to about 70/80 bb.

EP (very lose new player) limp. MP3 raises to 6bb (MP3 has been playing a game on his phone and has been playing very ABC. Also I have seen him limp with TT preflop in MP2. The two times he has Pfr he has shown JJ+ and the raises were 3bb and 4bb - I therefore put him on a monster AK, QQ+). Button calls (Btn also plays abc/ tight passive). I am in sb and look down at JJ. I contenplate the squeeze but decided that MP2 is looking to strong. BB calls and EP calls.

Flop : AJ4 rainbow.

I flop middle set and check. It gets check through.

Turn : 9
I bet out 12bb. BB ships for about 25bb. EP fold. MP3 ships (he has me covered). Btn folds. After very little contenplation I say to MP3 : "if you got AA then you good" and I call.

I show JJ (second set)
BB show 44 (bottom set)
Mp3 show AA (top set)

That was the first time I have seen set-on-set-on-set in live play

The high:

I rebuy with 50bb and won a few hands. Including a double up with trips over trips and my kicker playing. I have about 140bb.

UTG (same lose player as above) limps. UTG +1 (new vvery lose player) limps.
MP2 (agressive reg) limps. I am CO and look down to J8s. I raise to 5bb hoping to get the blinds and the reg out.

UTG+1 and Reg calls.

Flop: J :heart:7 :heart:2 :diamond:

Both check. I bet 11bb. Both call.

Turn: 2 :spade:
Both Check. I bet 18 bb. Both call

River: 2
UTG + 1 open ships for more than 150 bb. Reg tanks and folds. I call.
UTG +1 "THANK YOU VERY MUCH" and slow rolls the Nut flush.
Me: turn over J8s for the boat.
UTG +1 almost falls off his chair... He did not see/consider the posiblity of a FH.

At one stage last night I had gone to the flop 9 times. 6 times as preflop aggressor and had to fold top pair 4/6 against a set. Once in a 3bet pot QQ vs TT. TT floped set. Twice I called a preflop raise. Once a floped a set and lost to bigger set and other time I missed the flop. HOWEVER with all that coolers included I was 10 bb up simply because the other 2 hands that held.

In the end I went home 200bb up.

interesting blog... ill def follow

i used to play NL100 cash in a local casino for some time, but i quit cause i couldnt really make a big profit + i didnt have the BR to play that high.

but from what ive seen, the people are just horrible. those people who sit there every day and are considered "good regs" couldnt even defeat NL5-10 online in the long run imo.

they just kept bragging about how good they are in fromt of the table....
lol'd inside every time

i just somehow couldnt really adjust vs their game, i kept bluffing is spots like board: TTJJQ and they just never fold AA for like 200bb on the river...

+ playing drunk doesnt really help

and live cash just isnt for me i guess, cause its usually FR and it takes forever to play a hand and i just dont have the patience

yep live is a different animal.

NO Foldequity !
Only exceptions are:
1) some guys have like a 80% fold to 3bet. They ship KK+ which forms 20% of their pfr - range. The problem is that the standard opening raise bet size is generally anything from 12% to 33% of their stack. This does not give us room to 3bet fold.
2) most play fit or fold on the flop. The problem is that in an unraised pot there are so many in the pot that it is very seldom that we can take it down on the flop.

That is why i have always like the "peddle the nutz" strategy. Problem is when u not getting the nutz...

Yes I agree that many live cash pro's cannot beat 10NL online. I am atm working with a live cash pro to get him online. He has been beating 10NL but only just.

Oh and yes then there is the win rate.

Last year was the worse live poker year of my live. My winrate droped to below 9BB/100. Now that may sound ok but that translates to less than 3BB/hour. X(
This is far from when it was like 20bb/hour the two years before.

At that rate I dont think it is worth my while anymore and I am considering playing a lot less live.

So I was a bit dissapointed with the TCOOP last night. Went out just after first hour. Darn those blinds go up fast. People were still registering and comming in with less than 20BB - I guess I spend to much time in casinos I dont like gambling.

After that I joined some fishy homegame tourney. It did not go well and I ended up losing 1/2 my bankroll.

Early on I 3bet-bluff a steal from CO with J6s and showed. The very next hand the player donates his {her!?} stack to another fish. :f_cry:

Later I raised from UTG with AA (suited) and another player 3bets me. After some chat I fold and he shows a hand as weak as AKo. I mean really.

With only 5 left I am the BB and the BTN steals. I look down on a monster {A2o} and ship. He tanks and calls me with QJo. He rivers broadway. What a fish....

Pitty that game is so late I could make a living just by playing it every week but the wife said "dont give up your day job"

Now I'm disappointed that I didn't play. I hope you showed.

I have learn from my mistake so I never show THAT hand any longer.

Last time the dealer said it was a miss deal and refused to give me the pot. Some guys thereafter helped me to my car. I really did not get what all the fuss was about.

I enjoyed reading your blog, keep it coming!
I recently played at the casino for the first time and after seeing some hands i can see what you mean by people not being able to beat nl5-nl10... some very obscure hands such as a 3way pot where Button flopped kings full, but checks through to showdown

"Button flopped kings full, but checks through to showdown "

Does the Casino have some bad beat or jackpot promo's ? Many casinos do and then you see people playing monsters very softly

i remember like 3 months ago i was playing live cash...

25/50 in local currency (which is like NL200)

and there were these 2 guys from england who came and sat down at the table and the both pulled out like 10k euros asking where they can exchange the cash for for chips....

they thought its NL5000, but they still stayed and played anyways (both sitting on my left  )

turned out they both play NL1000-NL5000 online profesionally

so that was pretty fun how they destroyed the tables.... so finally all those "regs" shut up for a while..

(i managed to suck out on one of them and douple up when i hit my river after a turn shove :P)

not to my knowledge no, everyone just looked at his cards in disbelief. Then a few hands later a different guy held quads, he slow rolled them as he thought he was beaten when there wasn't even the possibility of a flush never mind the straight draw needed...

played live last night.

Started ..strange ended well.

First Hand I post in CO and look down to 95s. We go to the flop 5 handed.

flop: 9T9 raindbow.
Everyone checked to me and i bet 2/3 pot. Everyone fold to MP2 who calls.
MP2 is not a regular player. He is a professional rugby player who knows me from poker and also because we have a common friend who was his team captain.

Turn 6 spades giving me the flush draw. MP2 checks and I make a ½ potsize bet. MP2 announces raise. He then goes into this massive stare whiles stacking chips. Finally he said: “Just because I like you….” And he throws in just enough chips to call. The dealer reminded him that he announced raise and held him to it. He proceeded with a min-raise.

Turn 8 spades giving me the flush. MP2 checks again. I put in a small bet (1/4 potsize). MP2 tanks a bit then calls. I turn over saying “ I started with trip 9 but ended with a flush.” Him : “what is that?” I repeat myself. He turn over a 9 and then a 10.

Yep he flop the boat then check raise the turn, but only because the dealer held him to it, then check called the river. Finally he then slow rolled me.

About an hour later I got my chips back . I am in BB and same villain (200bb +) makes a 6bb raise. He gets 2 callers from two very drunk guys (both 100bb+) that had joined us. I (150bb+) look down on 99. I know if I flop a set these guys should pay me off. The one drunk guy did his stack with middle pair and had just rebought.

Flop A96 rainbow.

I check. Villian makes a very confident full pot size bet. Both drunk guys fold. I flat.

Turn 5
I check. Villian “Just me and you?...no I am not going to bet…” he checks.

River 3
I bet out ½ pot size. Villian tanks and calls. I show set 9 he shows AKo.

In the end he decided not to bet against me in both hands because “he likes me”.

After 6 hour session I went home 240BB up.

the difference was that my villian really did not want to raise "because I am a nice guy" as he demonstrated later the night.

Also he did not know what a slow roll is.

Les Miserables the live of me.

On Friday night I mentioned to my niece that I would like her to baby sit next week so Fiona and I can go and watch Les Miserables. This afternoon niece and boyfriend rocked up with a flash drive ….no questions asked.

I ended up watching the movie on my laptop with my 6year old and my 8year old next to me. Me explaining the whole story to them. Even Meghan, who finds it hard to sit through a Barbie 3D movie, watch through the story. This afternoon sitting on my bed and explaining the story to my kids was emotional.

I think I must go and buy another copy of the book and read it again. It has been to long.

Time to share. I was introduced to the book at University to read in order “to make sense of it” after a girl I was dating passed away in an accident. It made a very big impact on me.

Fast forward 10 years and I am doing a high publicity case defending a young girl, with a nice French name, charged with murdering her father. During the trial, and especially during my closing argument, I quoted extensively from the book. She only got a 3 year suspended sentence and some community service. As a parting gift I gave her my copy of the book with the words “now go and be good”. A few years ago she phoned me up telling me how this changed her life.

Nothing can do justice to the eloquence of Victor Hugo or his profound way of portraying things. No movie can tell the whole story. This movie, however, does carry the “feeling” of the story very well. I would really recommend it.
