July saw the return to online poker, coaching and staking and very welcome it was too. I ran pretty well, with great results in the 300 or so games I put in, and my stakees have done me proud once again.
One downside of Vegas is that I've lost all my rakeback status on the three sites where I play. I'm now trying to gradually build back up but will have to make do with 15-20% max for a long while. SN is not really achievable either this year without playing much more than I want to so I'll have to make renewing it a goal for next year.
Got lured into trying out the Jackpot SnGs over on FTP and I must say they are pretty neat. Quick, always loading, soft and reasonably low rake make it a pretty nice way of filling empty slots on the screen. My guess is the buyins will gradually increase if they remain popular.
On the home front, I'm loving spending time with the little one recently; she has such a sparkly personality. We found a kid's zipwire nearby and I talked her into trying it out. After a nervous start, she was hooked. Only 3 weeks until the family holiday in France (taking a break from Spain) which should be lovely.
I've just got back from chess club which I cycled to on my new bicycle. I had to stop riding three/four years ago when my upper body was really painful so I think the fact I can get around now is a really positive sign.
Rewatched Into The Wild yesterday, with Emile Hirsch. Really powerful movie.

Spin & Goes (analogous to FTP jackpots) are coming to Stars, hopefully in October... so don't worry about Supernova, it will be a breeze if 4-tabling them 
I don't think FTP will have higher BIs as the traffic in other SnGs doesn't allow (and shouldn't be cannibalised), but I'm lobbying for a couple of higher BIs at Stars.
Even if you won't play them, I bet you'll want to stake into them for sure [I'm gonna be rather in the stakers' camp, mind you]. Games that are both so soft and so bankroll-demanding don't come up every year.
Very interesting and thanks for all this information. I had not heard about the stars plan. In a way I think it's a shame since Full Tilt's casino style offering seems a better fit. Also, as regards canibalisation, I fear this will, like hyper turbos did, just draw more traffic away from the already struggling 6 max and 9 man market.
But such is life. If this is what the recreational player wants, who are we to stand in the way?
The Spin and Go format was introduced on the .es Stars site not long ago, and apparently the rake is huge (even for .es). Unfortunately, this probably means the rake will be larger on the .com site when they are introduced. This pretty much sucks for all other SnG players, because recreational players will be drawn to them, and the rake will be so large and the game so variance heavy, that regs will have a hard time beating them. In fact, I saw a variance simulation someone ran over something like 100,000 games (might be more) at 4.x% ROI and there were quite a few of the 50k samples run through that were actully losing over that sample.

Ouch! Although depends on the format; if it's same as FTP, the game should be comfortably beatable.
Rake on FTP is 5%; Stars is not usually more, but we'll have to wait and see. What's interesting is whether there will still be no deal option on Stars. Because when you finally bink a jackpot sng, I think dealing will be pretty popular.

It's good to know that such opposition still exists at the $50s. However, I'm afraid the games will get filled up by regs very soon because this stake is already 'serious' (for living-making purposes), so seize the day! (I haven't played there for a while so won't try as I'm afraid the games would get worse way before I became Diamond in Edge

2. The amount of awarded base FTPs is 10 times the rake, as it always is.
3. The rake in the 50s is actually 4% ($2), it's 5% at all the lower levels.

I'm also still playing them but for me it;s really hard to combine them w normal tables.

I'm on the verge of grinding them next weekend (I can't at this one, as there are Omaha happy hours and a volume deadline on iPoker).
I think I'll still habitually play iPoker JP SnGs whenever one of the JPs reaches €40K+: ironically, they're so much easier for the mental health. I mean, it's possible to prepare specially for the 5th-6th SnG after a series of 4-5 first places, but in the lottery format, a big SnG can strike at any moment and be hard to withstand, so I should warm up for every session like for the last stand 
It's great that you're gaining experience in this format before it comes to stars.com, as becoming the most qualified coach for it will surely pay off 
(It will be hard to become one as I guess many HU and 6-max hyper beasts are gonna pick it.)
