Hey <3 Gl hope the cards are on your side and you run like whoever it is god prays to.

a long time ago i was a quiet follower of this blog since you were playing at the micros great to see your progression, really deserved. Just a quick question for whenever you have time:

How did you deal with variance at the lower limits? Im just getting back into SNG's (my first poker love) this is my first month back with them im playing $3.40 turbo STTs on stars so far this month have played ~500 tourneys and am around 30 BI's under EV, did you/do you have a stop loss limit? sometimes i feel like i cant stop because im getting my money in good on such a high % of the time i feel it has to turn around, yet my BR is constantly dwindling is it common to run this much under?

If i took the time to go through the blog i might find some infos but its been a long while since i read it and theres alot of pages to trawl through.

Cheers + Gl

Hi again!

You stated numerous times in your blog not looking at your graph as a goal. I don't think this can change your ranges or anything. Maybe bad results just motivate you to concentrate more on the decisions, no? Why so? Could you explain?

because short term results are super unimportant and any affect it has on your mentality is most likely going to be negative...

Goodluck today at anzpt you'll pwn this...

Yeah, you got my idea right. I don't understand how short term results, for example looking at your 100 games graph, can change your game. That's why I asked. :)

I can see it very clearly how running bad in 100 games and seeing the graph can put you on a small tilt :) Subconscious tilt most likely..
and it's also just so poker doesn't affect him as much in real life.. Knowing you had a bad day is one thing.. but knowing you lost $937.57 is a lot worse :)

Personally not looking at my graph tilts me.. so I look at it on regular bases :)
But I have a super easy time forgetting all about poker when I stand up from this desk so it only affects my game not my life :)

It just differs from person to person I guess.. but knowing the danger will help you understand the tilt and hopefully manage to not tilt.

Another thing I don't understand is stop loss. You're losing, means you have to grind even more to catch up with the EV, why stop?

Why I'm wondering about this is that I had a 30 BI downswing yesterday and I kept doing the same all the time and today I'm almost break even for two days. And looking at my shit run graph really helped me concentrate. [EDIT: btw I played 300 games over those two days, not a normal sample but still :)]
